RICHMOND - Two masked men carried guns into a suburban jewelry store and were shot to death Friday in a battle with store workers.
The gunfire around 10:15 a.m. riddled the glass front door and windows of Beverly Hills Jewelry and left Christmas garlands protruding from the holes.
One store worker was wounded in the left hand, but there were no other injuries, said Henrico County Police Lt. Steve Powell.
Police revealed little about the shooting. Neither the dead nor others in the store were identified, and officials would not say whether customers were in the store during the brief shootout.
Police said at least one of the dead men was armed with a shotgun. Police found two shotguns in the store.

Gun-toting farmer captures fugitive
SUFFOLK - Aaron Hines had outrun police on foot, outraced them in a highway chase and eluded them on foot in a wilderness. And then along came Art Moore, a shotgun-toting farm worker and ally of the law.
Moore, 27, held Hines at gunpoint while a friend flagged down police Thursday, ending a pursuit that began in North Carolina and ended 40 miles and two wrecked police cruisers later.
Moore was driving to work at a farm with a friend Thursday morning when he spotted Hines, 21, standing handcuffed outside a church in rural Suffolk. Moore knew a fugitive was on the loose.
``I knew he was the guy,'' Moore said. ``I'm just a concerned citizen looking out for the neighborhood, that's all. And I had the gun in the truck.''
Hines had bolted in a stolen pickup truck from police who had arrested him on a cocaine charge in a Murfreesboro, N.C., hotel room early Thursday. Two North Carolina police cars crashed as they chased Hines north toward Virginia.

School bus driver accused of threats
YORKTOWN - School officials in York County are looking into a dispute between a school bus driver and several parents who said the driver threatened to put their children off the bus in the middle of the woods.
Superintendent Steven R. Staples said a shouting match occurred between the driver and the parents Wednesday while the bus was making its rounds. The driver, a substitute whose name was not released, has been suspended while the matter is investigated.
The parents also have accused the driver of going too fast through their neighborhood.

Riverboat gamblers get city's demands
NEWPORT NEWS - Potential riverboat gambling developers will be expected to pay at least $1 million in city leases and $2.75 million on roads and other ``quality-of-life'' amenities, the city says.
The Newport News Industrial Development Authority laid out its expectations in a letter to six potential developers. The panel will recommend to City Council by the end of the month which of the applicants to endorse.
The applicants have until Dec. 6 to respond to the city's list.
