BAPTIST CHURCH TAKES TOP PRIZE AT SALEM PARADE

Preston Oaks Baptist Church won top honors as the best overall entry at the Salem Christmas Parade Friday night.

Second place went to the Kazim Klowns; Roanoke Valley Shag Club won third place.

Salem Police's D.A.R.E. entry won the "Best Olde Timey Christmas" category, and the "Best-Organized Children's Group" prize went to East Salem Elementary's fourth-grade class.

William Fleming ROTC was judged to be the best marching unit. The best senior high school band honors went to Cave Spring's marching band, and Patrick Henry received an honorable mention.

Salem High School's marching band was the host band and was not judged.
