KEEPING SUMMER PLANTS INDOORS THROUGH WINTER

Q: In early October I brought a mandevilla and a bougaainvilla, both hanging baskets, into the house from their summer spots outside. Both plants shed great amounts of leaves. How should I care for these plants this winter?

A: Both need bright sunlight during the winter. The bougainvilea is an excellant tropical vining plant for a location with high humidity (about 50 percent) during the winter.
