After his Radford University men's basketball team finally disposed of Division II Glenville State 77-55, Bradley probably wished his vision had not been enhanced by either means.
This was indeed an unsightly affair from the Highlanders' perspective.
``We were flat-out outplayed,'' Bradley said.
Radford (3-1) won for a school-record 17th consecutive time at the Dedmon Center, despite 27 turnovers. Furthermore, the Pioneers battled on even terms most of the night on the backboards, with the Highlanders finally prevailing 34-30.
Worse still, Glenville State had 14 offensive rebounds to Radford's six.
Despite that, the Pioneers shot 38.7 percent for the game, 26.9 percent (7-for-26) in the first half.
``I think that was the intimidation factor,'' said coach Gary Nottingham, whose Glenville State team was playing its first game against Division I opposition.
Intimidated or not, the Pioneers were down 48-42 following a short jumper by Fred Wilson with 13 minutes, 39 seconds left.
Eight of the next 11 points were scored by Highlanders center Antoine Dalton, and it was pretty much lights out for the Pioneers.
Dalton, a 6-foot-8 senior, finished with a career-high 28 points and added nine rebounds and two blocks. He made 10 of 13 field-goal attempts and eight of 10 free throws.
``He did a number on us,'' Nottingham said. ``We could not guard him.''
Dalton is playing the best ball of his career, which may have something to do with the fact that Radford has two prized freshman post prospects, Eric Parker and Kevin Robinson, waiting in the wings.
``The coach could change his mind and start playing young,'' Dalton said. ``That's a little motivation for me.''
In any event, it was the sort of game in which Dalton could thrive.
``The guards were passing it around a lot on the perimeter and that opened it up for me inside,'' he said.
Radford also got 10 points and five rebounds from forward Chris Harvey and 13 points from Anthony Walker, who had only one more assist (seven) than turnovers.
``They're a scrappy team and they made us look sloppy,'' Walker said.
