BAIN, Lawrence W., 78, of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, December 3, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Louise Bain; four sons; four brothers, Earl Bain, Frank Bain, both of Salem, Richard Bain, Inglewood, Colorado, Kenneth Bain, Eustis, Fla.; sister, Mildred Ball, Salem. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grove City Christian Church, Grove City, Ohio. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Grove City, Ohio.

CARR, Katherine, 86, of Peterstown, W. Va., died Saturday, December 3, 1994 at the home of her daughter in Naples, Florida. Mrs. Carr was born November 25, 1908 at Hans Creek near Greenville, W. Va. and was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Minnie Calloway Broyles. Mrs. Carr was a retired Executive Secretary for the Virginian Railway, and was a graduate of the Charleston Business College. She was a member of the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, W. L. Carr in 1962, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Henrietta Chandler, Naples Fla.; one sister, Gladys Larew, Hans Creek, W.Va.; two grandchildren locally, Wren Carr, Princeton, W. Va., Becky Pence, Ballard, W. Va.; four additional grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside service s will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 1994 at the Orchard Cemetery, Ballard, W. Va., with the Rev. Thomas Rice officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, December 5, 1994, at the Broyles Funeral Home in Peterstown.

CHITTUM, Grover Lee Sr., 84, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, December 3, 1994. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, Buena Vista.

DENT, Lillie Davis, 93, of Narrows, Va. died Saturday morning December 3, 1994, in the Giles Memorial hospital in Pearisburg, Va. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on July 17, 1902 and was the daughter of the late Josh and Vira Cooper Davis, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Coburn Dent; two sons, D. C. Dent and Caudill; three sisters and a brother. She was a member of the Church of God. She is survived a daughter, Alma G. Lowe, Narrows, Va.; one son, Robert E. Dent, Sr., Hampton, Va.; a brother, Frank R. Davis, Narrows; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Riffe's Funeral Chapel in Narrows, with Rev. Raymond Koch officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Bastian, Va. The family will receive friends at Riffe's in Narrows, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

DIAMOND, Ada B. Sprague, 87, of Natural Bridge, died Saturday, December 3, 1994. Arrangements are being handled by J. B. Lewis Funeral Service, Lexington.

HART, George William Jr., (``Shorty''), 73, of Roanoke Co. died Saturday, December 3, 1994, at the VA Medical Center. Mr. Hart was retired from Hart Motor Company after 40 years service and was currently emplo yed with Harris-Teeter. He faithfully served his country, during World War II and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Georgia L. Hart; one daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Mike Cassell of Vinton; two grandsons, Michael Lynn Cassell and Samuel Lee Cassell both of Vinton; four sisters, May Elkins, Ethel Crews, Nancy Ferguson and Dorothy Powell all of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews, including some very special relatives, Evelyn Crews, Mildred Sink, Eunice Bass and Kay Hambrick. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 1994, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Carter Sloan and the Rev. Gene Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel.

HAWLEY, Samuel Luther, 80, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, December 4, 1994 at his home. Mr. Hawley was born on April 1, 1914 in Montgomery Co. to the late John and Gaye Sites Hawley. Mr. Hawley retired in November 1979 from the Pipe Fitters Union and he was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving is his wife, Pearl Hale Hawley, Blacksburg; two daughters and son-in-law, Ellen Hancock, Richmond, Evelyn and Russel Rice, Sandston; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney Hawley, Richmond, Billy and Bobbie Hawley, Annandale; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Linda and Don Doss and Becky and Ronnie Alls, all of Blacksburg; two stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Larry Moore, Blacksburg and Lloyd and Nancy Moore, Vancouver, WA.; one sister, Roseann Woods, Roanoke; one brother, Jack Hawley, Chesapeake; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 1994, at Slusser's Chapel Church of God, with the Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.

HOSTETTER, Buster B., 84, of Glasgow, died Sunday, December 4, 1994. Arrangements by Lomax Funeral Home, Buena Vista.

KEMP, Patricia Yvonne, 47, of Christiansburg, died early Sunday, December 4, 1994, in Lewis-Gale Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Archie C. Kemp; her children, William S. Warden, Karen Gray Warden, both of Pulaski, Anthony Scott Kemp, Christopher Sean Kemp, both of Christiansburg; a grandson, Bradley Asher Almarode; one granddaughter, Ashley Dawn Dorms; her mother, Grace Eanes Johnson, Roanoke; four brothers, Wallie J. Eanes III, of Tennessee, Charles M. Eanes, Pulaski, Lawrence Henry Eanes, Randolph D. Eanes, both of Roanoke; nieces and nephews, Heather Nicole Eanes, Christopher Eanes, Jonathan Eanes, Tonya L. Eanes, Julie Marie Eanes and Kimberly Sue Eanes. The body has been cremated, with memorial services to be conducted at a later date. The family suggests that anyone wishing to make memorials in her name, consider the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.

LITCHFIELD, James Willard, 48, of Sea Pines Plantation, Hilton Head, S.C., died Friday, December 2, 1994 in Savannah. He was a native of Charleston, S.C. and was married to Suzanne Wood, formerly of Wytheville, Va., and father of James Alexander Litchfield, of the home, and was the son of Cora L. Schiffiano, of Charleston, S.C. and the late Rev. James W. Litchfield. He moved to Hilton Head Island in 1980 from Beaufort. He was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1972, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1974. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. During the period from 1971 to 1982, he was a staff accountant , manager and partner in McKnight, Frampton, Buskirk and Co., CPAs of Beaufort and Hilton Head Island. He then became a stockholder and Treasurer of Robinson Grant Co., P.A. of Hilton Head Island, where he was the accounting and auditing committee chairman and quality control officer. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Camp High Five and SC Associations of CPAs and served on many committees of the SC Association of CPAs. Mr. Litchfield was a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Sea Island Chapter of CPAs, Hilton Head Sertoma Club, Lex Amis du Vin, Hilton Head Citadel Club, Citadel Honorary Society, Economic Honor Society, St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church and was included in Who's Who in American Universities an Colleges. Other family members include a brother, M. A. Litchfield of Fairfax, Va.; and a sister, Donna L. Nichols of Charlotte, N.C. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas A. Bowling officiating. Friends will be received in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. Interment will be Wednesday at the Meadows of Dan Baptist Cemetery, Meadows of Dan, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head Island, S.C. 29926, St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church, 20 Pope Ave., Hilton Head Island, S.C. 29928, Hilton Head Preparatory School, 8 Fox Grape Road, Hilton Head Island, S.C. 29928, or The Citadel College, Charleston, S. SHRADER, Joseph Fred, 66, of 608 Hopkins St., in Narrows, Va. died Saturday, December 3, 1994, at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Born in Giles County, Va. he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Rose Neece Shrader. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, World War II and retired from thirty-five years of se rvice with Hercules Power Co. RAAP. Joe was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Narrows and had been active in the Christian Mens Fellowship and was a member of the VFW at Narrows. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lois Jones Shrader; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sharon Rader Shrader of Narrows; one daughter, Freda S. Wright of Columbia, S.C.; his stepmother, Maxine Epling Shrader of Lugoff, S.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, Grayden and Glenda C. Shrader of Newport, Va.; three half-brothers, Paul Shrader and Wayne Shrader of Lugoff and Donald Shrader of Camden, S.C.; two half-sisters, Linda Rabon and Betty Hastin both of Lugoff; three grandchildren, David Shrader of Newport, Jennifer Shrader of Narrows, and Justin Wright of Columbia, S.C.; a stepgranddaughter, Amy Wright of Pearisburg, Va. and a great-grandson, Sammy Shrader of Newport. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 6, 1994, at 11 a.m. in The First Christian Church in Narrows, Va. with the Pastor, Rev. Jack Musick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Narrows. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, Va. WITT, William M., 73, of Salem, died Sunday, December 4, 1994. Mr. Witt was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Virginia Witt in June 1993. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Danny L. and Kathleen Witt of Roanoke Co.; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy W. and John Moore of Botetourt Co.; a brother, Robert L. Witt of Florida; a sister, Virginia Ezella Harrison of Roanoke Co. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
