Benefit car show

The 15th Annual Roanoke Valley Charity Car Show Committee is accepting entries for its annual benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association Car Show, to be held March 3-4 at the Roanoke Civic Center.

Custom cars, street rods, race cars, antiques and classics, pro-streets, motorcycles, pick-ups, muscle cars, 4-wheel drives, off-road vehicles and vans may be entered. There is no entrance fee. Commercial booth space is also available.

Space is limited. Call the MDA office, 772-3237, for an application.

Ballet performance

The Southwest Virginia Ballet will present ``The Snow Maiden'' Dec. 10 at 2 and 8 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. in Roanoke College's Olin Hall, Salem.

``The Snow Maiden'' is a Russian tale of how a young girl comes to life after a couple shapes her from the snow. Terry Timko will dance the lead role of the snow maiden and John Mayer will dance the male lead, El.

Terri Post, artistic director, has designed the original choreography for their premiere performance. Other ``seasonal delights,'' with choreography by Post, Sandra Smeltzer, and Danya Conn, will open the program.

Tickets are $9.50 adults, $7.50 children and senior citizens, and are on sale at the Olin Hall box office, 375-2333.

Director resigns

Nancy Connelly, executive director of the Roanoke Valley History Museum, has announced she will resign her position next year to move to Connecticut. Connelly has been executive director for four and a half years and a member of the museum staff for more than five years.

During her tenure, the museum has opened dozens of new exhibits, received grants from the Roanoke city and county for eductional outreach programs and from numerous other organizations to support programming and exhibits, opened a museum store and received a major grant for the new D-Day Exhibit and program.
