BROWN, Elizabeth Cloyd, 71, of Pulaski, died Sunday afternoon, December 4, 1994, at her home. She was born in Atkins, Va., on February 24, 1923, and was the daughter of the late James Monroe Brown and Lizzie Miller Brown. She was a retired bank teller with Nations Bank, Pulaski, having 20 years of service and was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski. She was also a member of the Thorn Spring Golf Club. Surviving is one cousin, W. W. Hopper, Eden, N.C. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 1994, at 2 p.m. from the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va., with the Rev. Steven Weston officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishers that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice. He was born in Bluefield, W.Va., on May 10, 1927, and was a son of the late George French and Elizabeth Torbet French. Dr. French was a practicing pediatrician in Martinsville and was the founder of the Children's Medical Center in Martinsville. He is survived by his wife, Linda Miles French, of the home; daughters, Margaret French Blevins, Martinsville, Betty French Blankenship, Matthews, N.C.; sons, David Nelson French, Martinsville, Paul Robert French, Blacksburg; stepson, John David Cronise, Richmond; brother, Rober t T. He was born in Rockbridge County, July 24, 1910, the son of the late George A. and Tina Smith Hostetter and preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Clark Hostetter. He was retired from the Locher Silica Plant in Goshen. Surviving are his sister, Ragie Tyree, Lexington; a number of nieces and nephews. Miss Martin was a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church and was a retired employee of the Hoechst-Celanese Corp. She was a member of the Angels Rest Rebecca Lodge, a member of L.A.P.M. Cascade #13, and the past Nobel Grand Club. She is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-laws, Odell and Phyllis Martin, Garnet and Nancy Martin, Foster and Mabel Martin, all of Pearisburg, Haven and Doris Martin, Roanoke; one sister and brother-in-law, Glenna and Woodson Lucas, Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Margaret Martin, Pearisburg; and several nieces and nephews. McCREADY, Ruby Richardson, 83, of Marion, widow of George ``Jack"" McCready, died Sunday, December 4, 1994, from complications following surgery. Mrs. McCready was a charter member of the Marion Garden Club and had won numerous ribbons for her arrangements. She also held offices at the District level. She was a founding member of the Smyth County Historical Society and instrumental in the establishment of the present location of the Museum. Mrs. McCready served on the Smyt h County Library Board and the Literacy Council. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served on various committees and as circle leader and was responsible for the original renovation of the parlor. Mrs. McCready is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George H. Jr. and Felice McCready, Martinsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia M. and Matthew Groff, Silver Spring, Md.; a granddaughter, Michelle Groff, Blacksburg; two grandsons, Andy McCready and wife, Karen, Pulaski, Michael Groff, Silver Spring, Md.; one brother, Harold Lloyd Richardson, Yuma, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 1994, from 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home on Main Street, Marion. SERBER, William Reese Sr., of Salem, passed away Monday, December 5, 1994 at the Salem home of his daughter, Lyla Ann. He was born on April 23, 1917 in Richlands, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lyla, and his son, Lyle Lee Serber. Mr. Serber was a well-known and respected lumberman and real estate developer. He is survived by three children, a daughter; Lyla A. Serber Moore, Salem; two sons, William Reese Serber Jr., Ocean City, N. J. and Charles Dennis Serber, Salem; three grandchildren, Leslie of Los Angeles, Calif., Lyle of Dallas, Texas, and Luke of Lexington; one sister, Kathleen S.
