PROPOSED BOUNDARY CHANGE WOULD BRING DUBLIN INDUSTRIAL PARK INTO TOWN LIMITS

Pulaski County and the town of Dublin have set a public hearing for Dec. 19 on a proposed boundary change which would bring the Dublin Industrial Park into the town limits.

The voluntary adjustment and addition of the industrial property would increase the size of Dublin by about 50 percent.

The boundary adjustment includes no residential property. It covers only industrial property acquired by the town as an industrial park, and commercial parcels between that property and the current town limits.

The commercial parcels include facilities of the Virginia Department of Transportation, a state police office, a plant owned by Marshall Concrete of Christiansburg, Lane Enterprises and Sofia Inc., all located along Bagging Plant Road.

The county Board of Supervisors and Dublin Town Council will conduct the joint hearing at the regular board meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 in the county Administration Building.

Dublin established an industrial park on part of the former Burlington Industries Inc. property last year. In recent weeks, the town has acquired most of the remaining Burlington property along Virginia 682.

The industrial park now includes 271 acres, and 485,000 square feet of building space.

The public hearing was announced jointly Monday by Dublin Town Manager Gary Elander and Pulaski County Administrator Joe Morgan.
