SNOWVILLE HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE WAS UNINSURED|

A faulty electrical outlet is being blamed for the Sunday evening fire that destroyed the home of a family of four in this rural community.

Darrell Graves, Donna Bland and two young children lost their home and everything in it as a result of the fire, which was reported sometime after 4 p.m., said Lee Simpkins, chief of the Snowville Volunteer Fire Department.

The home was not insured, Simpkins said.

Simpkins said the six-room, wood-frame house caught fire because of an electrical problem with a 220-volt outlet. A welder was plugged into the outlet.

Three automobiles also were destroyed, Simpkins said.

Graves, Bland and the two children had left the house earlier in the day and were not home when the fire broke out.

Simpkins said clothing donations for the family will be accepted at the Radford Fire Department on Wadsworth Street.

Graves wears size 30 waist, 30 length pants and medium shirts and jackets.

Bland wears size 9 or 10 pants, medium shirts and size 6 1/2-7 shoes.

The 5-year-old boy wears children's size 7-8 pants, size 13 or 1 shoes and size 10 shirts.

The girl, a toddler, wears sizes 2-3 and size 6-6 1/2 shoes.
