BLAHA, Emma L., 76, of Roanoke, formerly of Elbert, W.Va., died Wednesday, December 7, 1994, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born November 6, 1918 in Elbert, W.Va., the daughter of the late Martian and Luvina Majerczyk. She had lived in Elbert, W.Va., the greater part of her life, living in Roanoke the past year. She was a graduate of Gary High School, where she was an honor student. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Gary, W.Va., where she was a member of the Alter Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Blaha in 1993; three brothers, John, Walter and Joe Majerczyk. Surviving are one daughter, with whom she made her home, Mrs. William (``Jeanette'') Spichek, Roanoke; a grandson, Jeff Spichek, Roanoke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, December 10, 1994, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Gary, W.Va., with Father That Son officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell, W.Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Box 130, Gary, W.Va. 24836. BRINKLEY, Thomas Michael, 48, of Torrance, Calif., formerly of Roanoke, died Sunday, December 4, 1994. He was preceded in death by his father, Watson Graham Brinkley, mother, Elizabeth Seifert Brinkley, and a brother, William Gregory Brinkley. He is survived by his wife, Rula B. Brinkley, Torrance, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa B. and Wesley C. Bradley, Salem; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosemary B. and Robert W. Hambrick, Suzanne P. DICKER, Clifford Ernest, (``Cliff""), 58, of Rt. 100, Barren Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 19 94, in Wytheville, Va. Born October 24, 1936 in Springfield, Maine, he was the son of the late Fred Eugene Dicker and Bessie Adelle Smith Dicker. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Maxine Swecker Dicker. He was retired from the United States Air Force, with 20 years service, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a Sheriff's Deputy with the Wythe County Sheriff's Department, Wytheville, Va.,14 years service. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Sue Swecker Dicker, Barren Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Barry and Karla Dicker Turman, Roanoke; two sons, Brent Allen Dicker, Barren Springs, Michael Anthony Dicker, Barren's Springs, and fiancee, April Leigh Christian, Bluefield, W. Va.; two stepdaughters and son-in-law, Rhonda Michelle LaRue, Roanoke, Jennifer Lynne Clark and Robert E. Clark, Pulaski; two granddaughters, Amber Nicole Turman, Samantha Jane Clark; sisters, Charlotte Payne-Conard, Cross Junction, Va., Dorothy Ann Albert, Lincoln, Maine; brother, Donald E. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside. FOX, Estelle Ruth, 85, of Roanoke and formerly of Long Island, N.Y. died Wednesday, December 7, 1994. She was the widow of Lawrence Fox and the mother of Rabbi Jerome Fox (Beth Israel Synagogue). GRAVETT, Elizabeth Sydney Painter, 77, born February 15, 1917, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, December 7, 1994, in a local hospital. She was a long time member of Oakland Baptist Church and a devoted Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Gravett was retired from Petrolane Gas Company and was a past president of the Dig & Dream Garden Club. She was the widow of Page D. Gravett. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine G. and William N. Cochran, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, P. D. and Barbara J. Gravett, Middleburg, Va.; grandchildren, Preston S. Cochran, Roanoke, Sandra E. Martin and husband, Mark, Centreville, Matthew M. GUIDI, Louis, 73, of Welch, W.Va., died Wednesday, December 7, 1994, at Princeton Community Hosp. Princeton. Born Oct 13, 1921, in Vertova, Italy, he was the son of the late Tony and Maria Merchese Guidi. He was a resident of Welch the past 35 years. Formerly employed at General Electric in Salem, Virginia. Retired miner, member of District #29, U.M.W.A. member of St. Peter Catholic Church Welch, veteran of World War II serving with the U. S. Army in France and Germany; member of the American Legion of W elch. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Claudia Guidi and a sister, Angelene Guidi. Survivors include wife, Francoise Lavergne Guidi of the home; daughter, Julianna Guidi Hull of Roanoke, Va.; son, Christopher L. Guidi, Stone Mt., Ga.; two brothers, Daniel Guidi of War, W. HUNTER, James Herbert III, (``Jimmy""), 37, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 1994. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Hunter Jr. Survivors include his wife, Freda Brown Lake Hunter; mother, Kathleen Hunter; one stepson, Elisha Lake III; two stepdaughters, Angela and Amy Lake, all or Roanoke; four sisters, Ercelene (James) Gamble, Chicago, Ill, Katrina and Diana Hunter, both of Greensboro, N.C., Yolanda (Gerrod) Hunter-Norman, Lindenwold, N.J.; one stepgranddaughter, Brittany Lake, Roanoke; three nieces, Clarisa Williams, Clarice Hunt, both of Chicago, Ill, Kiara Norman, Lindenwold, N.J.; one nephew, Adrian Hunter, Greensboro, N.C.; three devoted nurses, Casandra Adams Lewis, Mary Ingram, Richard Rh ett; friends at Blue Ridge Independent Living Center and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; a host of other relatives and friends. MOORMAN, Herman Shackford Sr. 91, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 6, 1994, in a Roanoke hospital. He was a long time member of Belmont United Methodist Church and South Roanoke United Methodist Church, served as superintendent of the Baltimore Conference and was a life long member of the Epworth League. He was one of the ten original members of the Roanoke Life Saving and First Aid Crew, the first volunteer rescue squad in the world. He retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway with 48 years of service. Surviving are his twin sister, Mabel Moorman Kennett, Roanoke; daughter, Mary Anne Moorman, Seattle, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, John Kenneth Moorman and Jan Garrett Moorman, Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Shawn Daniel Moorman, Christopher Garrett Moorman, Trent Matthew Moorman; niece, Mrs. Guy Boger; nephew, Dr. C. T. Moorman Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at South Roanoke United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Friday, December 9, 1994, by Dr. Donald H. Roberts and Dr. M. Douglas Newman. MOYER, Dolores C., 67, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, December 7, 1994. Mrs. Moyer was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served in the Adult Choir, the Handbell Choir and was the pianist for the Children's Choir. She was a retired Piano Teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry P. Moyer and a son, Phillip Douglas Moyer; one sister, Jackie and a brother, Odell. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Thomas G. Himes, Princeton, W.Va., Pam and Ernie M. SHERMAN, Carrie E. Richard, 89, of Roanoke, who resided at Our Lady of the Valley, and formerly of Womelsdorf, Pa., died late Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 1994, in a local hospital. She was previously employed by Berkshire Knitting Mills, Reading, Pa. and Dutch Maid of Richlands, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Sherman; her parents, William and Annie Richard; one sister; one brother, all from Pennsylvania. STEINHARDT, Ralph Gustav, Jr., 76, of Roanoke, died Sunday, November 27, 1994, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Therry of Brookline, New Hampshire, Sarah of Atlanta, Ga., Ralph of Takoma Park, Md.; three grandchildren, Anna, Ruth and Tavi. Dr. Steinhardt was educated at Lehigh University and Virginia Tech. He retired from teaching chemistry at Hollins College in 1980. He was associated with Brookhaven, Oak Ridge, and Los Alamos National Laboratories as a research scientist. He was a veteran of World War II. The family suggests that memorials be made to Hollins College, P.O. Box 9627, Hollins, Va. 24020.
