PARADE TONIGHT

"Peace on Earth" is the theme of the annual Christmas parade that gets under way tonight at 7. The parade starts at the University Boulevard bridge, procedes westward along Norwood and First streets and ends at Central Square in the West End.

The Radford Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the parade for Main Street Radford, which also offers collectible Christmas ornaments at selected member businesses. The 1994 edition depicts the old Radford High School, which was destroyed by fire in 1970. The drawing was done by Ann Giesen Sayers for the city's centennial in 1992.

A few ornaments from previous years also are available at some stores.

The ornaments are $6 or less, depending on the year, and $1 goes to either the Empty Stocking Fund or the Radford High School Foundation for each ornament sold.

Downtown shoppers also can win a prize at participating stores in the "Find Santa" contest. For details, call Main Street Radford, 639-3656.
