DAY, Orville Decator, 87, of Salem, passed away Thursday, December 8, 1994, in his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ancell Day. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Salem and a dedicated usher at Joan Morgan Harris Chapel. He was retired from Norfolk & Western Railway. Surviving are a son, David A. Day, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen T. and Gaynelle Corell Day, Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Shelli L. Isaacs, Apex, N.C., David A. Day Jr., Roanoke, M. Taylor Day and Stephanie G. GOODWIN, R. Lynn, 57, of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 8, 1994. He was a graduate of Roanoke College and a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Goodwin was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salem. He was associated for many years with Mick or Mack and later with his two sons at All Green Corporation. Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. ``Squirrel"" Goodwin and Lucille Cowan Goodwin. Surviving is his wife, Cheryl Heath Goodwin; a daughter, Leslie Ann Goodwin, Minto, Alaska; two sons, Heath M. Goodwin, R. E. ``Will'' Goodwin, both of Roanoke County; two uncles, L. H. ``Bill'' Goodwin, Salem, Willis Cowan, Roanoke; three aunts, Ruth Gresham, Salem, Naomi Dent, Roanoke, Lena Long, Elliston. Services will be at First United Methodist Church in Salem, 11 a.m. Monday, December 12, 1994. The Rev. Thomas L. Joyce and the Rev. Jonathan L. Bennett will officiate. HARRIS, J. Wayne, 57, of Stephenson, died Thursday, December 8, 1994, at the University of Virginia Hospital after a courageous fight against leukemia. He was born October 14, 1937. Mr. Harris was employed for many years with WSLS TV 10 in Roanoke. He was retired from F.E.M.A. He was also a membe r of Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. in Winchester and a member of Moose Lodge #1283 in Winchester. He is survived by his mother, Helen Miles Harris of Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Fred E. and Mary E. Harris of Roanoke; two nephews, Mandel E. Harris, Denny F. Harris, both of Collinsville; also a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, December 12, 1994 at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem. JOHNS, Otelia Pate Potter, 89, of Route 1, Box 80, Bedford, died Friday, December 9, 1994 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Surviving are her children, Charles E. Potter and wife, Janett, Beverly H. Clement and husband, James; three stepchildren, Eleanor Franklin, Farrell Johns, Luke Henry Johns; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Born in Giles County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles Frank and Mamie Higginbotham Williams. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma W. Evans and Anna Laura Williams. surviving are her husband of 52 years, Charles E. Lucas; two brothers, George A. Williams and Chapman M. Williams, both of Salem; two sisters, Mary W. Porterfield of Ripplemead and Margaret W. Lucas of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. MANKEY, Willis P. Jr., 83, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 9, 1994, at his residence. He was born January 6, 1911, son of the late Willis P. Mankey Sr. and Lettie Johnson Mankey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Edith Thompson Mankey; two brothers, Marion and Hubert and sister, Maude Mankey Connerey. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mildred Leech of Natural Bridge; a very special friends, Eva S. Price; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, a member of Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, a member of Mountain City Lodge #67, Scottish Rite and Kazim Temple of Shrine and retired from Kroger Co. with 40 years of service. STIFF, Frederick, 86, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, December 8, 1994 in a local hospital. Mr. Stiff was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a retired Supervisor in the Department of Material and Handling Management with Norfolk & Western Railway with over 40 years service. Mr. Stiff was a member of Vinton Masonic Lodge #204 A.F. & A.M. and the Vinton Historical Society. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen H. Stiff in 1975. Surviving are his wife, Edna M.
