DAY, Orville Decator, 87, of Salem, passed away Thursday, December 8, 1994, in his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ancell Day. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Salem and a dedicated usher at Joan Morgan Harris Chapel. He was retired from Norfolk & Western Railway. Surviving are a son, David A. Day, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen T. and Gaynelle Corell Day, Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Shelli L. Isaacs, Apex, N.C., David A. Day Jr., Roanoke, M. Taylor Day and Stephanie G. Day, both of Virginia Beach; two great-grandchildren, S. Keith Isaacs and Somer O. Overby, both of Apex, N.C. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m Monday, December 12, 1994, at the Joan Morgan Harris Chapel, Richfield Retirement Community. GIVENS, Evelyn Cline, 79, of Covington, died Friday, December 9, 1994. Funeral service 3 p.m Sunday, Arritt Funeral Home Chapel.

GOODWIN, R. Lynn, 57, of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 8, 1994. He was a graduate of Roanoke College and a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Goodwin was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salem. He was associated for many years with Mick or Mack and later with his two sons at All Green Corporation. Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. ``Squirrel"" Goodwin and Lucille Cowan Goodwin. Surviving is his wife, Cheryl Heath Goodwin; a daughter, Leslie Ann Goodwin, Minto, Alaska; two sons, Heath M. Goodwin, R. E. ``Will'' Goodwin, both of Roanoke County; two uncles, L. H. ``Bill'' Goodwin, Salem, Willis Cowan, Roanoke; three aunts, Ruth Gresham, Salem, Naomi Dent, Roanoke, Lena Long, Elliston. Services will be at First United Methodist Church in Salem, 11 a.m. Monday, December 12, 1994. The Rev. Thomas L. Joyce and the Rev. Jonathan L. Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel after 9 a.m. Sunday.

HARRIS, J. Wayne, 57, of Stephenson, died Thursday, December 8, 1994, at the University of Virginia Hospital after a courageous fight against leukemia. He was born October 14, 1937. Mr. Harris was employed for many years with WSLS TV 10 in Roanoke. He was retired from F.E.M.A. He was also a membe r of Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. in Winchester and a member of Moose Lodge #1283 in Winchester. He is survived by his mother, Helen Miles Harris of Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Fred E. and Mary E. Harris of Roanoke; two nephews, Mandel E. Harris, Denny F. Harris, both of Collinsville; also a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, December 12, 1994 at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. Masonic Rites will be held at the graveside. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home

HERDMAN, Raymond F., 79, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 9, 1994. Memorial service 10 a.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.

JOHNS, Otelia Pate Potter, 89, of Route 1, Box 80, Bedford, died Friday, December 9, 1994 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Surviving are her children, Charles E. Potter and wife, Janett, Beverly H. Clement and husband, James; three stepchildren, Eleanor Franklin, Farrell Johns, Luke Henry Johns; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rudder officiating. Interment will follow in the Pate Family Cemetery in Shiloh. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

JORDAN, Emily Smith, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, December 8, 1994. She was the widow of James Jordan. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary J. and the Rev. Erdie M. Trigg III; granddaughter, Brandle J. Trigg, all of Roanoke; two foster daughters, Florence (Kitty) Bishop, Roanoke, and Emily Reed, Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Cora L. (James ) Lewis, and LeeAnna Smith, Hollins; three brothers, Harry Smith Jr., Hollins, Clarence (Mary) Smith, Etes (Barbara) Smith, Roanoke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church. The Rev. Joseph A. Keaton will officiate with interment to the church cemetery, Body Camp, VA. KEITH, Ralph J., 61, of Route 1, Moneta, died Thursday, December 8, 1994. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4522 Vinton and a retired employee Hooker Furniture Company. Surviving are his wife, Frances Maxey Keith; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and June Keith, Vinton, Mitchell and Jeanette Keith, Roanoke; two daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and Bruce Roy, Troutville, Sherry Keith, Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren; a stepson, James L. Maxey Jr., Moneta; two stepdaughters, Shirley Maxey, Vinton, Teresa Parrish, Roanoke; one stepgranddaughter; two sisters and brother-in-law, Harold and Irene Booth, Bonsack, Alice Spence, Blue Ridge. LUCAS, Reba Sue, 73, of 505 N. Monroe St., Pearisburg, died Friday evening, December 9, 1994, in Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Giles County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles Frank and Mamie Higginbotham Williams. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma W. Evans and Anna Laura Williams. surviving are her husband of 52 years, Charles E. Lucas; two brothers, George A. Williams and Chapman M. Williams, both of Salem; two sisters, Mary W. Porterfield of Ripplemead and Margaret W. Lucas of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m.Sunday in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, Pembroke, Va. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

MAGILL, Albert Donald, 64, of Rocky Mount, and formerly of Chester, N.Y., died Thursday, December 8, 1994, at his home. Mr. Magill was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Marion H. Magill of the home; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Albert T. Magill, Scranton, Pa., Joseph R. and Dale Magill, Ferrum, Raymond R. and Lilly Magill, Chester, N.Y. , Donald D. Magill, Campbell Hall, N.Y.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois A. and Richard Merkel, Campbell Hall, N.Y., Marian E. and Arthur Bogert, Godeffroy, N.Y.; one half sister, Ellen Turner, Sasquehanna, Pa.; one half brother, Richard Magill, Los Angeles, Calif.; mother-in-law, Ella McDougal, Rocky Mount. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, and a number of loving friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 1994, a t the Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. MANKEY, Willis P. Jr., 83, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 9, 1994, at his residence. He was born January 6, 1911, son of the late Willis P. Mankey Sr. and Lettie Johnson Mankey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Edith Thompson Mankey; two brothers, Marion and Hubert and sister, Maude Mankey Connerey. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mildred Leech of Natural Bridge; a very special friends, Eva S. Price; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, a member of Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, a member of Mountain City Lodge #67, Scottish Rite and Kazim Temple of Shrine and retired from Kroger Co. with 40 years of service. Funeral services will be at the graveside Evergreen Burial Park, 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 12, 1994, with Rev. Tupper Garden off iciating. McKINNEY, Frank Coleman, 82, of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 8, 1994, in a local hospital. Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard D. and Marion McKinney and Alvis M. and Geraldine McKinney; two sisters, Doris M. Nolen and Corrine Traurig and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 3 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 1994, with Rev. Albin Cruthcfield officiating. Interment will be at a later date. MORGAN, Lillian H., 93, of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 8, 1994, in a local hospital. She was retired from American Viscose and was preceded in death by her sister, Mary P. Morgan, who departed this life November 18, 1994. Surviving is a sister, Dorothy M. Claytor, Roanoke; two sisters-in-law, Pauline R. Morgan, Roanoke, Velma Morgan, Ashland, Ky. Graveside services will be at 12 noon Monday in Evergreen Burial Park. The Rev. Carter Sloan will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church. SMITH, Albert Clinton Sr., (``Blackie""), 74, of Glade Spring, died Thursday, December 8, 1994, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abington. He was a member of the Byars-Cobb United Methodist Church in Glade Spring, Va., a member of Masonic Lodge #236 of Glade Spring, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Bristol Patton-Crosswhite V.F.W. Post #6975. Mr. Smith was a retired Machinist of the Olin Corporation as well as General Engineering of Abington. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maria (Shupe) Smith, Glade Spri ng; one daughter, Mrs. Susan (Smith) Helton, Abington; one son, Dr. Albert C. Smith Jr. ``Brack"", Radford; two sisters, Mrs. Melvia Sexton, Saltville, Mrs. Della Kinser, Marion; one brother, Mr. Noah Smith, Glade Spring; five grandchildren, Jenny ``Sweetie"" Helton, Gabe Helton, Barton Smith, Brandon Smith, and Brody Smith; several nieces and nephews. SMITH, Lowell Lynwood, (``Kessie""), 49, of the Maybrook Community, near Pembroke, died Thursday evening, December 8, 1994, in Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, following a long illness. Born in Giles County, he was a son of the late Eria A. and Lillie Hare Smith. He had last worked at VPI & SU before he was disabled. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Crockett Smith; two daughters, Karen L. Lucas and Lutricia C. Smith, both of Pembroke; two brothers, Donald E. Smith of Christiansburg, and Eria Smith of Pearisburg; four sisters, Margaret E. Price of Blacksburg, Linda S. Radford of Pembroke, Bonnie S. Mitchem of Blacksburg, and Judy S. Raines of Newport. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday evening, December 11, 1994, at 7 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the services.

STIFF, Frederick, 86, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, December 8, 1994 in a local hospital. Mr. Stiff was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a retired Supervisor in the Department of Material and Handling Management with Norfolk & Western Railway with over 40 years service. Mr. Stiff was a member of Vinton Masonic Lodge #204 A.F. & A.M. and the Vinton Historical Society. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen H. Stiff in 1975. Surviving are his wife, Edna M. Stiff; a son and daughter-in-law, George W. and Phyllis K. Stiff, all of Vinton; two granddaughters, Robyn S. Roberts and husband, Jeff, Greensboro, N.C., Lisa S. Phillipps, Kernersville, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Roberts and Marisa Phillipps. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Wm.
