WKEX (1430 AM) broadcasts live today, 9 a.m. to noon, from the Christiansburg Lions Club craft fair in the National Guard Armory, College and Depot streets. Free prizes and candy.
Personalities from Classic Country, WRAD (1460 AM), and CD Country, WRIQ (101.7 FM), are on the move: Wednesday, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., they're at New River Valley Mall for Pet Day with Santa. Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m., they're back at the mall for Gentlemen's Night Out. While there, they'll also draw the winner of the Garth Brooks limited-edition print. Donations go to the Empty Stocking Fund. Friday the WRAD-WRIQ folks are at Wade's Supermarket, Christiansburg, 3 to 6 p.m., and at the Renaissance Restaurant, Pulaski, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visitors can register to win the holiday grand prize of two USAir tickets to any of the airline's destinations in the continental United States and $500 cash.

"Armchair Quarterback": TV sports anchor Mike Stevens of WDBJ (Channel 7) returns to radio for a guest shot on today's show, 9 to 10 a.m., on Super 710, WFNR (710 AM). Levi Garrett moderates as a panel of pundits tackles listeners' questions and comments on area and regional sports. Stevens used to do sports on Roanoke's K-92, WXLK (92.3 FM).
Virginia Tech Basketball: Today, the Hokies play Texas Christian at Cassell Coliseum. Air time is 12:30 p.m. Local Tech network affiliates include WNRV (990 AM), WJJJ (1260 AM), WKEX (1430 AM), WRAD (1460 AM), WRIQ (101.7 FM) and WVVV (104.9 FM). Bill Roth calls the games.
Radford University Basketball: Today, the Highlanders face Virginia Military Institute at home in the Dedmon Center. The broadcast begins at 7:10 p.m. on WPSK (107.1 FM). Dave Hunziker has the play-by-play for the RU Sports Network.

Blues fans can hear a history of the blues when Radford University's WVRU (89.9 FM) airs the third of a six-part special: "The Blues Story - Triumph of an American Musical Art Form" Sunday afternoon at 4:30. "American Indigenous" - the New River Valley's only early-evening jazz show - airs Mondays through Thursdays at 7 p.m.
"Mahogany Perspective" airs Saturdays, 3 to 9 p.m., on Radford University's student-run WVRU (89.9 FM), offering a selection of rap, hip-hop, soul, R&B and reggae. Requests and dedications are welcome. 831-5171.
