Tennessee (6-0) will play No.7 Penn State, a 94-55 winner over Richmond, in today's championship.
Tennessee led 36-34 at the half, but the Cavaliers (4-2) missed eight of their first nine shots of the second half, while the Volunteers hit 6-of-9. A 3-pointer by Tiffany Woosley gave Tennessee a 50-36 lead with 13:59 left.
After Virginia cut the lead to 74-67 with 2:24 left on a layup by Tora Suber, the Volunteers went on a 6-0 run, including 4 points by Latina Davis, to take an 80-67 lead with 37 seconds left.
Michelle Marciniak and Davis had 16 each for the Volunteers, and Woosley had 11. Charleata Beale added 15 points.
The Volunteers had a 42-34 rebounding advantage.
