CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS I

Arellano-Hall

Stacie Marie Hall and Elijio Arellano were united in Holy Matrimony on November 23, 1994 in a private ceremony at 3:00 p.m. in Salem, Va.

Stacie is the daughter of Bobby and Lois Hall of Roanoke, formerly of Callaway, Va. Her grandparents are Gertrude Young and the late Roy Lee Young of Callaway, and Georgia Hall of Copper Hill, Va.

Elijio is the son of Jesus and Maria Arellano of Roanoke. His grandparents are Josefina Arellano and the late Elijio Arellano of San Jose, Mexico, and Salvador Ornelas and the late Rosa Ornelas of Mexico City.

Mr. and Mrs. Arellano are employed by El Rodeo Mexican Restaurants and will reside in Roanoke, Va

\ Burton-Lipscomb

Given in marriage by her father, Melissa Anne Lipscomb and Thomas Hamblin Burton were united in marriage on December 10, 1994 at 7 pm at Rosalind Hills Baptist Church. Performing the ceremony was Pastor Steve Parker and Pastor Tom Stocks. Lisa Lipscomb served as her sisters maid of honor. Best friend of the bride, Indra Buitrago, served as the second maid of honor. Other bridesmaids were Kim Chewning, Ashlee Chewning, cousins of the bride, Wendy O'Sullivan, sister of the groom, Kim Wray, Missy Brewer and Waynette Beddingfield, all friends. Junior bride was Amber Wilson, cousin of the bride. Flowergirl was Kirsten Arritt, cousin of the groom. Thomas B. Burton served as his son's best man. Other ushers were Alfred Hamblin, cousin of the groom, Chris Chewning, cousin of the bride, Michael O'Sullivan, brother-in-law of groom, Eric Grogan, Robert Pate, Charles Wilson, Jason Walker, all friends. Junior groom was Jimmy Lipscomb, nephew of the bride. Ringbearer was Zachary Arritt, cousin of the groom. Guestbook attendant was Tina Compton. The bride's longsleeve mermaid cut gown was covered in pearls, lace and sequins. Her bouquet was full of ivory magnolias, poinsettias, pearls, lace and greenery.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Lipscomb of Vinton, the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Lipscomb Sr. of Hardy, and the late Mr. and Mrs. George M. Overstreet of Hardy. She is a graduate of William Byrd High School and is now attending Virginia Western, studying to be a registered nurse. The bride is employed by First Virginia Bank.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Burton of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry and attended Virginia Western. He is employed by Wal-Mart. \ Echols-Rose

Christy Rose and Douglas Echols were married November 19, 1994 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Va. Following a beautiful wedding the reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Rev. Charles Thompson, Suffolk First Baptist, officiated.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at the Holiday Inn in Chester.

Matron of honor was Tammy Idol, sister of the bride, and four attendants.

Larry D. Echols was his son's best man and four groomsmen.

The bride is the daughter of Priscilla Rose of Colonial Heights and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Woodson, Roanoke.

She graduated from J.M.U. in June '94.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Echols of Fincastle and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McClung of Eagle Rock, and special paternal grandfather, Robert D. Echols of Roanoke.

The groom is a '93 graduate of J.M.U. and is currently attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.

The bride is employed by Nash County Hospital in Rocky Mt. and the groom is employed by Edgemont Baptist Church in Rocky Mt., N.C.

After a wedding trip to Disney, the couple resides in Rocky Mt., N.C.

\ Egge-Strate

Ann Winter Strate and Kimball Scott Egge were married November 5, 1994 in Williamson Road Church of the Brethren. The officiating clergymen were Pastor Harold Moyer and Pastor J. Weldon Myers. The reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of Williamson Road Church of the Brethren.

The matron of honor was Sarah Strate Rees, sister of the bride. Flowergirl was Rachel Catherine Rees, niece of the bride.

The best man was Alan Carter Egge, brother of the groom. The ushers were Doug Jones, friend of the groom, Tim Hunley, cousin of the groom, Trey Logan, friend of the groom, and John Shepherd, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Jeremy Noel Stoddard, nephew of the groom.

The bride is a daughter of Margaret and Frank Wiseman of Harrisonburg, and the late Martin F. Strate. She is a graduate of Roanoke Memorial School of Radiology, Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree and JMU with an M.S. degree. She is employed by Roanoke Memorial Hospitals.

The bridegroom, son of Doris Cline Egge and Dean L. Egge of Roanoke, is a graduate of Northside High School and is employed by McClung Lumber. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after the wedding trip to the Bahamas.

\ Harvey-Butler

Debra Elizabeth Butler and Steven Wilkes Harvey were married July 9, 1994 in Christ The King Church, Worcester, Massachusetts. The reception was held at Pleasant Valley Country Club.

The maid of honor was Aileen M. Deamer, friend. The bridesmaids were Holly Harvey Fanady, sister of the groom, Amy P. Butler, sister of the bride, Regina Leonard, friend, and Joan Peterson, friend.

The best man was Dr. H. Rodger Harvey, brother of the groom. The ushers were Joseph A. Butler, brother of the bride, Dr. Russell M. Howerton, Patrick C. Barber, and J. Stuart Newman, friends. Holy scripture reading was done by Mrs. Henry W. Harvey, mother of the groom.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Butler, Worchester, Ma. She is a graduate of Doherty High School and Northeastern University, Boston. She is employed as project manager at Fidelity Investments, Boston.

The bridegroom, son of Mrs. Henry Woodson Harvey and the late Mr. Harvey, Roanoke, Va., is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va., and the Owen Graduate School of Management, Nashville, Tenn. He is vice president and department head in the Corporate Banking Division at State Street Bank & Trust, Boston.

The newlyweds will live in Newton, Massachusetts after the wedding trip to Hawaii.

\ Huff-Davidson

Star Leigh Davidson and David Wayne Huff were married December 10, 1994, in Parkway Wesylan Church with Pastor John Ott officiating. The reception was held at Parkway Wesylan Church. The matron of honor was Deleigh Sowers, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Karla Hiner, friend of the bride; Lisa Cassell, friend of the bride and groom; and Rebecca Mullins, friend of the bride. The best man was Connie Huff, f ather of the groom. The ushers were Danny Huff, brother of the groom; Dale Duffy, friend of the groom; and Tom Godfrey, friend of the groom. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leigh C. Davidson of Vinton. She is employed by Dr. Robert L. Pugh. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Connie B. Huff of Salem. He is employed by Yokohama Tire Corporation. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke City.

\ Hufnagel-Brown

Kathy Maureen Brown and James Harold Hufnagel were married October 15, 1994, at the Unity Church of Roanoke Valley with the Reverend Harriet Valliere officiating. Following the double-ring ceremony, a reception was held at Loch Haven Lake.

The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Virginia Brown of Roanoke. The groom is the son of Harold and Elsie Hufnagel of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

The matron of honor was Bonnie Holdren, sister of the bride, of Roanoke. Bridesmaids were Carol Shell, sister of the bride, of Salem, and Rebecca Perry, friend of the bride, of Collingswood, New Jersey. The flowergirl was Karin Murphy of Roanoke, friend of the bride and groom.

Dave Murphy, of Roanoke, served as best man. Groomsmen were Calvin Holdren and Joe Seminario, both of Roanoke and friends of the groom. The ringbearer was Joshua Shell, nephew of the bride, of Salem.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown, from Formal Occasions, with a lace-covered bodice trimmed in white pearls. The ceremony included a lighting of unity candles by the mothers of the bride and groom. The organist was Larue Sherman of New Castle.

The groom is purchasing manager for Mario Industries, Inc. of Roanoke and the bride is employed by ADIA. Following a Caribbean cruise to Mexico, Jamaica and Grand Cayman, the couple have made their home in Roanoke.

\ Jordan-Mays

Melissa Lorene Mays and Robert Len Jordan were married November 18, 1994, by the Rev. Sherwood Spence at the Wedding Chapel in Roanoke.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas B. Woody and Jimmy W. Mays, all of Roanoke. She is the granddaughter of Juanita Malone of Salem, and Hazel Mays of Rocky Mt. She was escorted by her stepfather. Melissa is a graduate of Patrick Henry High and Hollywood Academy of Cosmetology. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe R. Jordan of Lilburn, Ga. He graduated from Hawthorne Christian Academy and attended Dekalb Tech, in Ga.

Honor attendants were Kimberly Gillman, sister of the bride, and Doug Kittner, friend of the groom, all of Ga.

The wedding dinner and reception was held at Roanoke Moose Lodge #284, following the ceremony.

The couple will reside in Norcross, Ga.

\ Kuehn-Edmondson

Sandra Lynn Edmondson and Charles Thomas Kuehn were married on October 8, 1994 at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church, and Rev. Kenneth Stofft officiated the afternoon ceremony. The matrons of honor were Mrs. Katherine Boggess of Roanoke, Va., sister of the groom, and Mrs. Christine Hood of Inman, S.C., sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Mitzie Grindstaff of Rocky Mount, Va., Mrs. Kelly Mauck of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Regina Phelps of Roanoke, Va., and Miss Sheri Sutherland of Rocky Mount, Va. The bridesmaids dresses were purchased through Formal Occasions in Salem, Va. The best men were Mr. Leo Edwards and Mr. Chris Moore, both of Roanoke, and friends of the groom. The groomsmen were Mr. Michael Altizer of Roanoke, Va., Mr. Howard Boggess, brother-in-law of the groom, Mr. Scott Hillyard of Blacksburg, Va., and Mr. David Nelms of Short Pump, Va. The flowergirls were Emily Hood and Chelsea Edmondson, who are nieces of the bride. The candles were lit by Mr. and Mrs. David H. Edmondson III, and Mrs. Patricia Kuehn and Mr. Carl Kuehn. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David H. Edmondson III and a graduate of William Fleming High School and Radford University. She is employed by the Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer. The groom is the son of Mrs. Patricia Kuehn and Mr. Carl Kuehn. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Randolph Macon College. He is an Associate Distributor for Safeguard Business Systems. The bridal portrait and wedding photographs were taken by Barry Brooks Photography. An afternoon reception was held at the church and catered by Mary Bommarito of Mary's Party Works. The couple will reside in Roanoke after a honeymoon trip to Bushkill, Pa., in the Pocono Mountains.

\ McAlister-Carter

Elizabeth Anne Carter and Michael Lee McAlister were married November 13, 1994, in Cornerstone Church of Roanoke with Jeff Copper, Associate Pastor, officiating. The reception was held at Spurs Restaurant & Lounge. The matron of honor was Susie Light of Roanoke. Bridesmaids were Lisa Evans, cousin of bride, Quinton, Va., Carmen Huffman, Roanoke, and Amy Witt, Moneta, Va. The best man was Mike McAlister, father of groom, Springfield, Missouri. The groom is the son of Mike and Mickey McAlister, Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from Kickapoo High School and Vatterotte College. He is employed by Summit Helicopters, Inc. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean Islands aboard the M/S Windward. A special thanks to our families and friends for all the love and support.
