BEATING VICTIM TRANSFERRED TO ROANOKE

A 23-year-old man was listed in very serious condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Saturday, the morning after he was found unconscious at the intersection of College Avenue and North Main Street in Blacksburg.

William Ray Viers, of Allisonia, was taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital with head injuries shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

According to investigators, he had been involved in a fight and was kicked in the head by two men who fled the area.

After examination by an emergency room doctor, Viers was transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was being treated for a skull fracture, police said.

No arrests had been made Saturday.
