CHRISTMAS GIFT RECALLS A LOST LOVED ONE

Ellen Jamison, 17, said she remembers John David Lamanca as not only her brother-in-law, but her good friend. He was 27 when he died in the Sept. 8 crash of USAir flight 427.

Lamanca's wife was 61/2 months pregnant at the time of the accident and has since given birth to Jayson David Lamanca.

Jamison said the birth of her nephew has given the families "new happiness and hope" in the midst of their mourning.

"The Christmas holiday will have new meaning for our families, one of remembrance of good times with Dave, and the other of excitement for his newborn son," Jamison said.

Jamison has started a tradition in honor of her brother-in-law. She is donating the money she would have spent on his Christmas gift to the Good Neighbors Fund.

"I know he [Lamanca] would be pleased to have his name involved in helping others."
