CARSON, Helen Ammar, 56, of Roanoke, died Saturday, December 10, 1994. She was the daughter of Fayaz K. Ammar and the late Helen P. Ammar of Bluefield, Va. and was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Leigh. Mrs. Carson was a graduate of the National Business College. Surviving are her husband, James O. Carson; daughter, Sandra Carson, Roanoke, son, Alan Carson, Lexington, N.C.; two granddaughters, Ashley and Ellery Carson, Lexington, N.C.; sisters, Fadwa A. Hartzog, Bluefield, W.Va., Melissa A. Robinnette, Tazewell; brother, Fayaz K. Ammar Jr., Franklin, Tenn.; three nieces; two nephews. A graveside service was conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 1994, at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gale D. Lammey officiating. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Virginia Organ Procurement Agency (VOPA), 1527 Huguenot, Suite 102, Midlothian, VA 23113. Friends are requested to consi der being an organ donor. COOPER, Rita Bersch, 74, of Clemmons, N. C., died Sunday, December 11, 1994. Mrs. Cooper was the widow of the late Owen R. Cooper of Rocky Mount, Va. Surviving are one daughter, Jayne B. De Frees of Fairfax; two brothers, Walter G. Dunkum of Mechanicsville, Va., Johnnie F. Dunkum of Stafford, Va.; one sister, Pearl B. Thon of Richmond; one granddaughter, Susan H., De Frees of Fairfax. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, December 16, 1994 at Mountain View Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Spence officiating. CRABTREE, Helen Marie, 81, of Narrows, died Monday, December 12, 1994, in Westwood Health Care Center, Bluefield, Va. Born in Tazewell County on July 8, 1913, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Kinzer Crabtree. She was a member of Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a retired employee of the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company Plant in Narrows after 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters, Ollie Osborne, Henry Crabtree, Haynes Crabtree, Susan Shrader, Tome Crabtree, John Crabtree, marvin Crabtree, Roby Crabtree, Strather Lambert, Lena Stowers, Josephine Kirby, Rhod a Epling, Bertha Crabtree. She is survived by a sister, Lucille C. Shrader, Bluefield, Va., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 1994, in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service, Narrows with Rev. James L. Crabtree and Rev. Judy Long officiating. Interment will follow in Dunningan Cemetery in Tazewell County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. DeVUSSER, Leon Robert, 65, of Radford, died Monday, December 12, 1994, at the Veterans Hospital in Salem. He was a former local businessman in Radford operating the West End Amoco for 22 years. He served on the Radford City Council and many other Boards and Commissions. He was past Secretary and Board Member of the Virginia Gasoline Dealers Association. He served as Secretary and Treasurer of the New River Valley Youth Home, and was active in the University-Radford City Joint Relations Committee. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. he is survived by his wife, Georgia Scott DeVusser of Radford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon D. and David Vaughn of Christiansburg, Karen D. and Bruce ``Woody"" Whitesell of Dublin; stepmother, Lucille DeVusser of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Herbert DeVusser of Jacksonville, N.C., Frank DeVusser Jr. of California; also by one sister in Illinois; and one grandson, Zachery Tyler Vaughn. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15, 1994 at 2 p.m. from the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Pastor O.D. Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the Building Fund at the Calvary Baptist Church in Radford. DOBBINS, James Cabell, 73, of Christiansburg, died Monday evening, December 12, 1994, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born September 7, 1921 in Riner, Va. and worked at Sealtest Foods for many years. He was a retired employee of the First National Bank of Christiansburg. Mr. Dobbins had been active as a member of the Christiansburg Kiwanis Club for 44 years and also attended St. Paul Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lucille White Dobbins; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy D. and Jack H. Neff of Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Cabel and Laura Dobbins of Birmingham, Ala.; a grandchild, Samual Cabel Dobbins of Birmingham; four sisters, Helen Lawrence Dobbins, Martha Shelton, Virginia Yates, all of Christiansburg, Mildred Light, Pilot; an uncle, Charlie Lawrence of Sprigg, W. Va. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 1994, from St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Kanney, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the St. Paul Methodist Church in Christiansburg or to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. DUDLEY, Henry Hester, 61, of 354 Wendover Dr., Rocky Mount, died Monday, December 12, 1994, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dudley retired as the town engineer for Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry T. Dudley. He is survived by his wife, Shelby Dudley, of the home; his son, Randy Dudley, Rocky Mount; his mother, Verneda B. Dudley, Rocky Mount; his brother-in-law and his wife, Rev. William and Sherry Shively, Ferrum; his sister-in-law and her husband, Margie and James Hollandsworth, Martinsville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Shively and the Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. GRIGGS, William (""Cal""), 48, of Knoxville, Tenn., a native of Charlottesville, Va., died Monday, December 12, 1994, at his home. He is a member Farragut Presbyterian Church, was an engineer for over 26 years with Raytheon Constractors and Engineers Inc. He was preceded in death by father, Ozmer Griggs and mother, Mary Ellen Smith Griggs. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Mullins Griggs; daughter, Callie Elizabeth Griggs, both of 12102 Butternut Circle, Knoxville, Tenn. 37922; three Aunts, Ottis Watson and Creola Houser, both of Badin, N.C., Roberta Griggs, Charlotte, N.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Elizabeth Mullins, Clifton Forge, Va.; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Billy and Jerry Robertson, Christiansburg, Va., Dottie and David Grimes, Chatham, Va.; several nieces, nephews and couisins. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Farragut Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Judd Shaw and Rev. Anne McKee officiating. MUNCY, William Moore, 56, of Bland, died Monday, December 12, 1994, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bland, October 31, 1938, the son of the late Andrew and Merle Vanhoose Muncy. He was preceded in death by a brother, James C. Muncy. He was a graduate of Bland High School and Wytheville Community College. Mr. Muncy served in the U.S. Army as Specialist 4 in Germany, was employed the the Bland Correctional Center for 20 years, and at the time of his death, was Chief of Security. He was also a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Pat B. Muncy; one daughter, Anna LaMoore Muncy; one son, William Heath Muncy, all of Bland; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Snyder of Portsmouth, Mrs. Kathleen Scott of Wytheville, Mrs. Sue Mills of Colonial Heights, Mrs. Sandra Marchal of Bluefield, W.Va.; two brothers, A. N. Muncy Jr. of Bland, Ben H. Muncy of Bluefield, Va. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15, 1994, at 11 a.m. at the Newberry Funeral Home with the Rev. E.C. Redmond Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Bland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Newberry Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Bland Fire Department. Newberry Funeral Home in Bland is in charge of the arrangements.

NOELL, Dorothy Clift, 82, of Atlanta, Ga., died Sunday, December 11, 1994. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 16, 1994, at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.

RICHARDSON, Rev. Elbert Lee, 87, of Blacksburg, died Monday, December 12, 1994, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Richardson, and a grandson Eric Richardson. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lee Jr. and Dian Richardson, Kenneth and Connie Richardson, all of Christiansburg, Donald and Linda Richardson, Dublin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Henderson Linkous, Gerry and Harold Vandivort, all of Blacksburg, Alma and Don Stenberg, Oklee, Minn.; one bro ther, Wilton Richardson, Sophia, W.Va.; one sister, Elva Albert, Dublin; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Rev. Lee Richardson was an ordained Elder in the West Virginia United Methodist Conference. Rev. Richardson's appointments in the Beckley, Bluefield and Charleston Districts of West Virginia covered a 29 year period from 1943 until 1972. Rev. Richardson retired from the Bluefield District in 1972 at which time he moved to Blacksburg and became pastor at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Christiansburg from 1972 until 1975. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Father Harry B. Scott, III and Rev. Larry Mann. Interment followed in the Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. Arrangements were handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.

WIRT, Ruby Alice, 81, of Christiansburg died Sunday, December 11, 1994. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Chapel, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11:30 until service time Thursday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
