The victim was hit in the head with the gun, police said, but refused medical treatment.
Allen Christopher Anderson, 23, told police he was walking near his home when he was approached by two males. One of them placed a handgun at Anderson's head, demanded his radio, then pulled the trigger to make the gun click, police said. Anderson then was hit in the head with the gun.
Anderson ran to a nearby home for help, as one of the assailants threatened to blow up the home if he called police. Shortly after the incident, Anderson identified the suspects, and they were arrested.
Lee Roy Gates, 29, of Rorer Avenue was charged with attempted armed robbery.
A 13-year-old boy was identified as a second suspect. Police plan to charge him with attempted armed robbery.
Elsewhere, a woman's purse was snatched from her Monday night while she was in a cafeteria restroom at Towers Shopping Center, police said. The victim's husband saw the suspect running with the purse toward a truck occupied by two other women. The truck had broken down, and the victim's purse was thrown out of the passenger window, police said.
Karen J. Creasy, 26, of Elm Avenue Southeast was charged with robbery. Brenda G. Davis, 43, of Stewart Avenue Southeast and Deborah L. Watson, 56, of 12th Street Southeast each were charged with being an accessory after the fact.
In another report, a 31-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint as he walked near 19th Street and Essex Avenue Northwest about 10:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
Donald L. Shell of Gilmer Avenue Northwest told police that the man who robbed him first asked if he wanted to buy drugs, then drew a small, silver handgun and demanded money. Shell gave him $10. The assailant took Shell's gold necklace and watch, police said. Police have made no arrests.
