CARJACKING REPORTED OUTSIDE SUPERMARKET

A 40-year-old woman reported she was carjacked at knifepoint from the parking lot of the Kroger store near Towne Square shopping center Wednesday afternoon, Roanoke police said.

The woman reported the incident to police after she said she was dropped off by her assailants in the 2800 block of Melrose Avenue Northwest early Thursday morning.

She told police that two men forced their way into her car as she drove from the lot about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Holding a knife to her side, the men pushed her into the back seat, told her to lie down and drove around for about 12 hours. The victim told police she was taken to various locations in the Roanoke Valley, including the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Police said after the men let her out, the assailants fled in the woman's car - a four-door, burgundy 1988 Chevrolet Corsica. The Virginia license plate number is VRO-203.
