EARNINGS

Bedford Bankshares Inc., holding company for Bedford Federal Savings Bank, reported net income of $1.4 million, or $1.23 per share, for its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, compared with $925,000 a year earlier. Per-share income was not reported for the earlier year because Bedford Federal converted from mutual to stock ownership during the period. Net interest income rose to $3.5 million from year-earlier $3.4 million. For the fourth quarter, net income was $365,000, or 31 cents per share, compared with $256,000. Net interest income rose to $969,000 from $809,000. Assets totaled $105.2 million at year end.
