BOARD REMEMBERS DUCKER

A floral centerpiece containing two pale yellow roses sat at the School Board meeting table in front of the chair that the Rev. George Ducker occupied for eight years. Ducker, the pastor of Presbyterian Church of Radford, died Dec. 4 as the result of an automobile accident. Thursday's board meeting was the first since Ducker's death.

As the meeting got under way, Guy Gentry, the board's chairman and one of Ducker's friends and parishioners, cited the "enthusiasm and energy" Ducker brought to the board.

"We will miss George dearly," Gentry said, his voice choked with emotion. "He has left us with many memories."

In closing, Gentry borrowed a line spoken Sunday at Ducker's church by Glenn Young, another friend and parishioner: "I'm sure if George were here, he would want me to say, 'Live your faith. Shine your light.'"
