Elegbe, a 6-foot-4, 215-pounder, was required to sit out the first 30 days of the season after transferring from The Pomfret (Conn.) School.
Coach Dennis Heck said Elegbe visited UVa and Purdue and canceled trips to Duke, Maryland and Boston College. A second Teaneck player, lineman John Wellington, picked Syracuse over the Cavaliers.
Elegbe, who runs 40 yards in 4.6 seconds, helped Teaneck go 3-1 in the games he played.

In Lynchburg, the Patrick Henry boys' track and field team finished third and the William Fleming boys finished eighth Saturday at the Heritage Invitational meet.
Jamie Price, a senior from Patrick Henry, won the 60- and 300-yard dashes with times of 6.2 and 33.2 seconds, respectively. Larry Jones helped the Patriots by finishing first in the 55-meter hurdles (7.3 seconds), second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. The 800-yard relay team finished third.
Britt Elliott paced the Fleming boys' team by finishing second in the 600-yard run with a time of 1 minute, 21.2 seconds. Elliott also helped the mile relay team come in third with a time of 3:51.9. Russell Mills threw the shot 47 feet, 3 inches to take third place.
In the girls' competition, Michelle Watson was the top Fleming runner, finishing fourth in the 60- and 300-yard dashes. She also was on the 880 relay team that placed fourth. The Patrick Henry girls did not place, but Shana Waller took third in the shot put and Kristen Pendleton placed fifth in the mile.
In Coral Gables, Fla., K.J. Hippensteel defeated Felippe Langer of Austria 6-0, 6-2 in the first round of the boys' 14-and-under division of the International Junior Orange Bowl tennis tournament at the Biltmore Resort.
Hippensteel, a student at North Cross, will meet a player to be determined in the second round. Hippensteel, at No.10, is the only U.S. player seeded in the tournament.
In Salem, Northside won the Ironman Wrestling Tournament with a score of 199.5, finishing more than 49 points ahead of second-place Brookville.
Brad Hungate of Northside defeated Kevin Satterwhite of Brookville in the 119-pound class. David Higgins also helped the Vikings by beating Chris Lukanich, also of Brookville, in the 145-pound division. Teammates Robbie Trent and Chip Nininger won the 160- and 189-pound classes, respectively, as Northside claimed four of 13 championships.
Lord Botetourt's Noel Michalski defeated Chad Huddleston of Staunton River to win the 130-pound class and help the Cavaliers earn third-place honors. Staunton River finished in fourth.
Other winners included: Jamie Harris of Christiansburg (112 pounds); Magna Vista's Greg Rodgers (125); Rockbridge County's Stewart Staton (152); and Fieldale-Collinsville's Jay Ruff (171).
Grundy flattened the competition to win the 40-team Halifax Holiday Classic Wrestling Tournament in South Boston. The Golden Wave's A squad finished with 313 points, 120 points ahead of second-place Franklin County's A team. Franklin County's Brian Jones (145) and John Muse (152) won individual titles, as did Liberty's Chris Blair (125) and William Fleming's Herbert Kasey (135).
