Clothing drive

BLACKSBURG - The Record Exchange is sponsoring a warm clothing drive to benefit the needy.

Bring old coats, sweaters and jackets to the North Main Street location through the end of January.

Christiansburg schedule

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Christiansburg town offices and recreation and senior centers will close at noon Friday, Dec. 23 and remain closed until Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Garbage service for Friday will be Friday morning; Monday's service will be on Tuesday along with regular Tuesday service.

Residents are asked to place garbage at the edge of the street by 8 a.m.

Radford trash

RADFORD - The City of Radford Public Works Department will not have solid waste collection Saturday, Dec. 24 or Monday, Dec. 26.

Due to holiday hours at Ingles Mountain Landfill, residents are asked to place garbage at the curbside by 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23.

Monday's garbage collection will be Tuesday along with regular Tuesday service.

Emotional survival

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Mental Health Association of the New River Valley is distributing free "Holiday Emotional Survival Kits." The kit includes information on coping with holiday blues, relaxation techniques for dealing with stress, and information on depression.

The kits are available at most public libraries in the valley and the Mental Health Association office from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 205 W. Main St. No. 3, Christiansburg.

Virginia Caring Program

BLACKSBURG - Montgomery Regional Hospital is now a participating provider for the Virginia Caring Program. The program is a non-profit public charity which contracts with health care providers throughout the state to render services to economically disadvantaged children enrolled in the program.
