BALLARD, Flossie Neighbors, 74, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 20, 1994, in the care of her daughters. She was a member of Mayflower Hills Baptist Church and was the widow of James B. Ballard. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary Ballard Short, Roanoke, Ronald L. Short, Vinton, Wanda Ballard and John L. Reed, Roanoke; grandchildren, Ronald Keith Short and Regina L. and Randall S. Manning; a brother, Donald E. Neighbors; sisters, Pearl N. Smith, Nell N. Mays, Georgia N. Burton, Ethel G. COX, W.E., (``Bill""), 79, of Marianna, Fla., died December 17, 1994, in Marianna, Fla. Mr. Cox was born in Galax, Va. in December of 1915 to Ed Cox and Mittie Rebecca Osborne. Mr. Cox is survived by four children and eight grandchildren; two sisters, Nita Cox Carrico and Etoile Berry, both of Galax. A memorial service was held at the home in Florida.

DAVIS, Jack Walter, 68, of Roanoke, died Monday, December 19, 1994, in a Salem hospital. He was retired from Roanoke County Schools. He is survived by his wife, Lucille E. Davis; one son, Jack W. Davis Jr., Statesville, N.C.; three daughters, Carol Parker, Linda Richardson, both of Salem, Brenda Goens, Leland, N.C.; four brothers, Charles Davis, Blacksburg, John Davis, Christiansburg, Donald Davis, Charleston, S.C., Wesley Davis, Roanoke; one sister, Dorothy Thornhill, Blacksburg; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. DICKERSON, Bertha Quesenberry, 95, of Radford, passed away Monday, December 19, 1994, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mae Turner. She was a member of the Indian Valley Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Blane Dickerson and also by three sons. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mae Turner and Mrs. Frankie Bain, both of Radford; four sons, James B. Dickerson, Richmond, Thurman Dickerson of Dublin and Jr. Ray Dickerson and Robert Dickerson, both of Radford; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Kenneth Hopkins and Elder Sidney Rakes officiating. FITZPATRICK, Ruie J., 92, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 20, 1994. She was the widow of J. Scott Fitzpatrick, and a member of Melrose United Methodist Church. Mrs. Fitzpatrick is survived by a number of cousins including one special cousin, Annette D. Fralin, Roanoke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Milton D. and Luella Fitzpatrick, Roanoke; special friends, Jimmy and Virginia Hayes, Roanoke, and Miss Mary Moore, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 1994 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Richard L. McNutt and Mr. Fred L. Tanner officiating. FRANKLIN, Olivia Johnson, (``Livie''), 84, of Huddleston, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 1994, in the Campbell Rest Home. She was born April 5, 1910, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Jane (Jimmie) English Johnson and James Luster Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Lee Franklin and two brothers, Garvis Johnson and Lawrence (Pee Wee) Johnson. She was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mimi and Melvin Harris, Huddleston; a grandson, Brandon Franlkin Harris, Huddleston; a brother, Guy Johnson, Salem; a dear friend, Frances Overstreet, Huddleston. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 22, 1994m at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Christopher Fowler and the Rev. Melvin Harris. GARMAN, Dana Taylor, 34, of Catawba, died Tuesday, December 20, 1994, at her home. She was a bus driver for the Craig County Schools. She is survived by her husband, Frank R. Garman Jr.; one son, Matthew G. Garman and two daughters, Martha L. Garman and Kelly Marie Garman, all of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett L. Taylor, Catawba; one brother, Wayne E. GREENE, Mary Burke, 74, of Radford, passed away Monday, December 19, 1994, at Radford Community Hospital. She was Secretary and Treasurer of North Radford Septic Tank Service since 1969. She was a charter member of the Fairlawn Church of God. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Mary Kate and Donald Kidd, Radford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tyrone G. JONES, Annie L., 94, of Pearisburg, died Tuesday, December 20, 1994 at her home. Mrs. Jones was born in Montgomery County, Va. to the late Peter Benjamin and Hattie Elizabeth Wheeler Bradford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Jackson Jones. Survivors include her two daughters, Rachel Hattie Allen and Betty J. JONES, Philip Robert, 60, of Blacksburg, died suddenly Tuesday, December 20, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born April 27, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late John Preston and Vivian Claire Lyle Jones. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Dr. Jones was a noted expert in the field of education since 1977. He was a chairperson and commissioner of the U. S. House of Representatives Commission on the Financing of Free and Appropriate Education for special needs children. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Huffington Jones; two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie Jones and D. David Ostroth, Blacksburg, Diana Jones and Dale Ray Hall, Christiansburg; a grandson, David Andrew Ostroth; a granddaughter, Amy Ostroth; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wallace P. and Beverly Jones, Rockford, Ill. LEVIN, Abner Bernard, 84, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 20, 1994, in a local hospital after a long illness. Mr. Levin was born in Fitzgerald, Ga., June 23, 1910, and was a native of Roanoke since age six. He attended Washington & Lee University and received his Bachelor's of Law Degree from the University of Georgia, 1931, where he was a member of the Blue Key Council. Mr. Levin founded American Chemical Company in Roanoke and served as its president until his retirement in 1969. He has been recognized in ``Who's Who In American Business and Industry"". While active in business, Mr. Levin served on the boards of the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce and the Roanoke Rotary Club, he also served on the board of The Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and active in the United Way, YMCA, American Cancer Society, and B'nai B'rith. Mr. Levin was a long time member of Temple Emanuel where he served on the board. Mr. Levin was also a member of the Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge #324 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, and a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple A. A. O. N. M. S., The Knights of Pythias. In recent years Bernard Levin belonged to the Hunting Hills Country Club and Breakers West Golf Club in Palm Beach, Fla. Mr. Levin and his wife, Marjorie Sigmund Levin have been residents of both Roanoke and Palm Beach, Fla. In addition to his wife, Mr. Levin is survived by two sons, Richard S. Lawrence, Atlanta, Ga. and John B. Lawrence, Roanoke; two grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Thursday, December 22, 1994, at Temple Emanuel Cemetery with Rabbi Frank Muller officiating and rites by the Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge #324. RICHA, James F., 77, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Saturday, December 17, 1994 at her residence. He was born November 18, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio as a Railroad supervisor for 43 years with Nickel Plat and Norfolk Southern. He came to Winter Haven from Port St. Lucie in 1989. Mr. Jicha was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Jicha, Winter Haven; daughters, Rebecca Mason, Warren, Ohio, Jennie Atkins, Orwell, Ohio; sister, Emily Robinson, Sarasota, Fla.; brother, George Jicha, Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. SIZER, Alfred Herman, (``Sheik""), 80, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, December 20,1994 in a Roanoke hospital. He was February 23, 1914 in Buena Vista, son of the late John A. Sizer and Sarah Abbott Sizer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Dixon ``Teenie"" Sizer. He had been a member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge #186 for over fifty years. He was a lifetime member of the Buena Vista Fire Dept., with over thirty years service, during which time he held the office of Chief, Asst. Chief, Captain, and President. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Sizer Littleton, Roanoke and Jodie Sizer Stinnett, Buena Vista; one sister, Helen S. Glass, Buena Vista; one brother, Dr. Kenneth B. Sizer, Danville; two granddaughters, Tammy Leigh Stinnett, Buena Vista, Mary E. Lit tleton, Clemson, S.C.; and a very special friend, Ethan Knick. WAINWRIGHT, Marguerite Elizabeth Kessler, ``Bogie"", 66 of Richmond, died, Monday, December 19, 1994. She was the daughter of the late Edna and Jacob Kessler of Blacksburg, and was born in Narrows, Va. She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Wainwright; son, Harold E. Wainwright Jr., Richmond; daughter, Sandra Lynn Padrick, and her husband, Capt. Duane A. Padrick, Bolling A.F.B., Washington, D.C.; also granddaug hter, Madison Alynn Padrick; and sister-in-law, Helen Frances Shively, Roanoke. Mrs. Wainwright attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated from R.P.I. (Virginia Commonwealth University) with a B.S. degree in Business. She worked for Dr. R. Campbell Manson, a dermatologist, for a number of years. She was a member of the Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church and worked with their senior group for several years. She was also a member of the Richmond Country Club, and a past secretary of the Womens Golf Association, a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past member and secretary of the Tri-Club, and past member Westhampton Junior Womens Club. WOODY, Gordon Allie, 79, of Sontag, died Tuesday, December 20,1994 at the home of his sister. Born July 28, 1915, he was the son of the late James M. and Alice Parcell Woody. He was preceded in death by one son, Buddy Woody, one daughter, Carol Ann Woody Cannaday, and one grandson, Gregory Gordon Woody. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ron Burroughs, Sontag; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Carolyn Woody, Glade Hill, Larry and Kathy Woody, Sontag, Donnie and Jean Woody, Rocky Mount; his sister, Eva Woody, Sontag; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 1994 at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ivey Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Woody Fam ily Cemetery, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 21, 1994, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lynch Funeral Home and other times at the home of Donnie and Jean Woody, State Road 902, Rocky Mount, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
