Public hearings already had been held by the planning commission and town council.
Updating the plan was mainly a technical act to comply with rezoning requests approved by council during the last several years.
David Holladay, Vinton's town planner who did much of the revising, said relatively minor changes were made. There was no opposition from citizens, he said.
In another action at its semi-monthly meeting, council approved bingo applications for four groups to continue their games during 1995.
The bingo sponsors are the Veterans of the Foreign Wars Post 4522, the American Business Women's Association, the Civitan Club of Roanoke/Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Roanoke Valley, and the William Byrd Boosters Club.
The VFW games are at its hall on Lee Avenue. The other groups play at Valley Hall, a privately operated hall on Washington Avenue. All games are open to the public.
Joan Furbish, Vinton's treasurer and finance director, said she expects one more group to submit an application next month.
Furbish said the only revenue Vinton gets from the games is a $25 fee that goes toward the cost of processing applications, and three-fourths of 1 percent of the gross revenue from the games, which goes toward the cost of auditing the games' finances.
Clay Goodman, town manager, said the town's revenue from these fees covers only a part of the cost of the application process and the auditing.
