NAMES & CHANGES

Innotech names president

RICHARD M. MARCKS has been named president of Innotech Inc., a Roanoke-based company which manufactures and markets optical lens fabrication machinery.

DR. RONALD D. BLUM, chairman of Innotech, will continue as chief executive officer.

Marcks is a former president of Hershey International and has worked in sales and marketing divisions of Hershey and the Nestle Group.

ACCOUNTING

LAUREEN A. GISINGER has joined Cole & King, a Roanoke certified public accounting firm. She previously was an associate with Miller Morgan & Co. certified public accountants and was a financial analyst with First Union National Bank of Virginia.

ARCHITECTS

MARK C. McCONNEL, RONALD E. DULANEY JR., MICHAEL T. ANGLE and KECIA CONLEY have joined Motley + Associates in Roanoke. McConnel, a project architect, formerly was with Glave, Newman and Anderson of Richmond. Dulaney, a project designer, graduated from Virginia Tech this year with a master's degree in architecture. Angle, a computer-aided design and drafting specialist, comes to the firm with 20 years of experience, most recently with SFCS Inc. in Roanoke. Conley, director of support services, joins the firm after running her own support services business. She has worked with architects for 10 years.

BANKING

PAMELA HILLMAN SWALLOW has been named vice president-escrow services in the mortgage loan servicing department at First Union Mortgage Corp. in Roanoke. She previously was assistant secretary-cash processing in the modifications and assumptions department at First Union Mortgage. In 1989, Swallow joined Dominion Bankshares Mortgage Corp., which later merged with First Union. Before that, she was employed by Colonial American National Bank, a predecessor of Crestar Bank.

At First Union National Bank of Virginia, ALAN CANNADAY has been promoted to vice president and manager of the Riverjack branch office. He formerly was assistant vice president and branch manager of the bank's South Roanoke office. He joined Dominion Bank in Roanoke in 1987.

CONSTRUCTION

RICHARD S. WHITNEY JR., president of Fralin & Waldron Inc., has been elected president of Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association. Other officers are JOE MILLER, E.J. Miller Construction Co., vice president; DAVID RADFORD, Radford & Co., treasurer; RUSTY COFFMAN, Central Fidelity Bank, vice president/associate; JIM McFADYEN, Dominion Renovations, vice-president/remodeler; and ANDY KELDERHOUSE, Fralin & Waldron Inc., vice president/sales and marketing.

STEVE B. RAMSEY has joined Thor Inc., general contractors in Roanoke, as a project manager. He comes to Thor from Ramsey Corp. in Minnetonka, Maine, and has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

JOHN W. RICHARDSON has been promoted to manager of application engineering at ETS Inc. in Roanoke. Richardson has been with the company since 1980. STEVE P. SCHLIESSER, formerly employed by Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City, Mo., for 10 years, has joined ETS as a senior engineer. HAZIM S. YOUSSEF also has joined the company as a senior engineer after receiving his doctorate from Virginia Tech. ETS Inc., a subsidiary of ETS International Inc., provides environmental and construction products and services, including toxic emission measurement and control, and infrastructure design and construction.

MANUFACTURING

GUS H. SUMMERS was elected president of Diversified Distribution Inc. in Martinsville at its organizational meeting in November. Before joining the newly formed company, Summers was general manager of distribution for Tultex Corp. Elected vice president and secretary was C. LEE LINTECUM, who will continue in his present position as director of development for the Stanley W. Bowles Corp., also in Martinsville. BARRY BOWLES, DAVID BOWLES and STANLEY BOWLES JR. were elected directors of the company, which offers to industries a full range of distribution services.

KEVIN W. WALSH has been appointed vice president-finance and treasurer of Tultex Corp. in Martinsville. His responsibilities will include maintaining relationships with commercial and institutional banks, other lending institutions and the financial community, as well as cash planning and management functions. Before joining Tultex, he was a vice president and senior loan officer for Signet Bank in Richmond. He joined Signet in 1988, and before that, he was with Sovran Bank in Richmond.

NONPROFITS

Total Action Against Poverty (TAP) has elected officers for 1995: THEODORE J. EDLICH III, executive director of TAP, president; MONTY PLYMALE, executive vice president of Central Fidelity Bank, vice president of long-range planning and administration; LAWRENCE HAMLAR, president of Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Inc., vice president of economic development; CHARLES D. FOX III, an attorney, vice president of legal affairs; and HOUSTON BELL, president of Roanoke Memorial Hospitals, vice president of development. New board members are HOWARD PACKETT, president of The Packett Group; GREGORY LYONS, Roanoke Jaycees; DAVID CHOPSKI, Southeast Action Forum; MILDRED PARSONS, Rockbridge County; GEORGE PENN, Villa Heights Crime Prevention Group; GREGORY JACKSON, Melrose Ave. Revitalization Advisory Board; and DONALD ADAMS, Covington.
