SHE'S THANKFUL FOR `MIRACLE' OF HER SURVIVAL

Sallie Meador had already sent a check to the Good Neighbors Fund this year, but as the days drew closer to the end of the year, she felt moved to send another because, as she wrote in her letter, ``I feel so thankful I'm a survivor of cancer.''

In August 1993 she learned that she had a type of cancer called lymphoma. She received chemotherapy treatments for six months and almost died, she said.

Today, her cancer is in remission, which she believes is ``a miracle.''

``I want to contribute another check in honor of all of the doctors and nurses and the staff at the Cancer Center,'' she continued, ``and also my wonderful husband, family and friends.''
