Shaffner scored 19 of his points in the second half, including a fade away bank shot at the buzzer to tie the score at 68 and send the game to overtime.
Greg Prater, who scored a team-high 27 points, had hit a shot with four seconds left to give Northwood a 68-66 lead before Shaffner made his buzzer beater. Prater scored 19 of his points in the second half, including all five 3-pointer attempts.
In the overtime period, Bryan Boyer scored six of his 21 points to help Grayson County (5-1) outscore Northwood 13-4. Boyer also had 14 rebounds.

MARION- George Wythe outscored Carroll County 22-8 in the third quarter to seal a 63-46 win in the first round of the Marion Holiday Classic.
Aaron Andrews led the undefeated Maroons (6-0) with his deft shooting, going 11-12 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the line. Andrews finished with 25 points.
Jon Ervin added 11 points, and Jason Otey 10 for George Wythe.
The Cavaliers were led by Casey McCreary's 15 points and Kevin Dalton's nine.
George Wythe will take on the winner of the Abington-Chilhowie game and Carroll County will play the loser of that game.

FLOYD - Terry Millirons scored a game-high 27 points as the Eagles rolled past the Cougars and advanced to the championship game of the Floyd Xpress Invitational.
Millirons scored nine of his points in the first quarter and 17 in the first half to lead the Eagles, who will play Floyd County tonight in the championship game. Jon Reed chipped in 21 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and six steals for Auburn, which also got 14 points from Kenny Wojciechowski and 10 each from Bradley Hudgins and John Lytton.
Cory Whitaker led Covington with 15 points and Greg Entsminger added 11. The Cougars will meet Roanoke Catholic in the consolation game tonight.
