Albert Tignor Jr. of Roanoke has been elected grand junior deacon of the Grand Lodge of Virginia.
Tignor will serve as Grand Master of Masons in Virginia in 1999-2000.
Tignor, retired from the former C&P telephone company, has been with the Freemasonry and the Kazim Temple. In 1986, he was the potentate of the Kazim Temple.
Vinton Masons install officers for '95
Kim Wright has been installed as worshipful master of the Vinton Masonic Lodge No. 204, 1995.
Other officers are Buddy Davis, senior warden; Edward Barger, junior warden; Alfred Anderson, treasurer; Ronald Underwood, secretary; Gregory Johnson, senior deacon; Richard Brenner, junior deacon; Gordon Watson, tiler; JosephBush, chaplain; Randy Kessler, marshal; David Cundiff, senior steward; and C. Women honored for fund-raising
The Roanoke Valley Women of Today recently honored three Roanoke women who were top fund-raisers for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, Greater Blue Ridge Chapter.
Elizabeth Lee was the top fund-raiser; Eleanor Lasky, second; and Annette Willis, third.
The women were honored at the second annual Roanoke Valley Women of Today awards presentation.
Community service group elects officers
The Blue Ridge Community Services recently elected officers for 1995.
They are: Onzlee Ware, chairman; Pamela Cox, vice chairman; Susan Cloeter, secretary; and John Hudgins Jr., treasurer.
Shirley Woodall and Rita Foster were elected to the executive committee.
Archer president of beer wholesaler group
Robert Archer, general manager of the Blue Ridge Beverage Co. Inc. in Salem, has been named the 1995 president of the Virginia Beer Wholesalers Association.
The association is a statewide organization with headquarters in Richmond representing Virginia's wholesale beer industry.
Chamber elects 1995 officers
The Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce recently elected its officers for 1995.
They are: Frank Longaker, National Business College, president; Richard Poplstein, V.F.P. Inc., vice president; and Phyllis Sutphin, Southwest Virginia Savings Bank, treasurer.
Board members elected to a three-year term were: Joe Yates, City of Salem planning director; Phil Boggs, J.C. Penney, Tanglewood; Lyn Brooks, Lewis-Gale Clinic; Tobey Eaton, Appalachian Power Co.; and Jyke Jones, Jones and Jones Association, Architects.
