ANDERSON, Seth Daniel, 16, of Roanoke, born February 6, 1978 and died Thursday, December 29, 1994. Surviving is his father, Daniel K. Anderson and his mother, Darla J. Anderson; three sisters, Tamigene, Karma Lee, Virginia Lee; grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Vearl G. McBride of Roanoke; Mr. and Mrs. Kendon O. Anderson of Salem, Utah; he leaves numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in the Roanoke First Ward. He had achieved the rank of life Scout and was completing his final Eagle Scout requirements. He was active in church youth activities and was in his junior year at Patr ick Henry High School. He worked part time at Friendship Manor Pharmacy as a Lab Technician. He was beloved of many friends and family members who grieve his loss most deeply. The family will receive visitors at Oakey's South Chapel Friday, December 30, 1994 after 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 1994, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roanoke Second Ward, 5836 Cotton Hill Road, Roanoke. The Bishop Robert E. Tonkinson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Ferguson Family Cemetery, Roanoke County. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.

BAYLESS, James Thomas, 84, of Pearisburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 1994, in Riverview Nursing Home. He is survived by one son, Roy Bayless and daughter-in-law, Patricia Bayless, Pearisburg; three grandchildren, Lesa Bayless, Brad Bayless, and Amy Bayless; two great-grandchildren, Braylin Bayless and Aftyn Bayless. Services will be held at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 1994, with the service immediately following in the chapel. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

BUSH, James Henry, 98, of Hagerstown, Md., formerly of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 1994. He was born March 5, 1896, in Fincastle, Va., a son of the late Nelson and Viola Cunningham Bush. James was employed with Noland Company for 38 years, retiring in 1961; was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren; and was a member of the A.A.R.P. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel A. Bush, in 1957. He is survived by his wife, Lula S. Bush; two daughters, Margaret J. Snyder, Hagerstown, Md., Barbara A. Yost, Newport News; a son, James O. Bush, Alexandria; two sisters, Ruth Cronk, Lucille Benson, both of Roanoke; two brothers, Carl Bush, Estero, Fla., Nelson Bush, Roanoke; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildre n. Graveside services will be held in Evergreen Burial Park Saturday, December 31, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Harold S. Moyer officiating. CAMPBELL, Jackie Lyle, 67, of Virginia Beach, passed away Thursday, December 29, 1994, at his residence. He was retired from the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. he is survived by his wife, Ernestine M. Campbell of the residence; one daughter, Tracy M. Faye, Virginia Beach; two sons, David B. Campbell, Langhorne, Pa., Daniel B. Campbell, Virginia Beach; two sisters, Marion C. Gordon, Vinton, Jewell C. Pannell, Salem; also six grandchildren. COOK, Clarence H., 70, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, December 29, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Cook was born in Blacksburg on August 3, 1924, a son of the late John Logan and Eddie Ratcliffe Cook. He was a retired security guard with S & C Security. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Dove Cook; his step-mother, Mrs. Evelyn Phillips; and a half sister, Mrs. Cecil Phillips, both of Christiansburg; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 1994, at Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Dewey O. Weaver, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Dowdy Cemetery. CRAIG, Sadie Hughes, 85, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 1994, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born January 17, 1909, in Honaker, a daughter of the late William Cowan Hughes and Nannie Belle Jessee Hughes. Her husband was the late Vernon Otho Craig Sr. She attended the Church of God, Bedford. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Madeleine Craighead, Roanoke, Emelie and Clarence Sigmon, Ethel Holdren, both of Bedford, Erma and Talmadge Meade, Thaxton, Sue Singer, Arlington; five sons and daughters-in-law, James G. Craig, Grants, N.M., Rev. Vernon O. and Alice Craig Jr., Harold M. and Lena Craig, Howard D. Craig, all of Bedford, Earnest R. and Linda Craig, Covington; two brothers, Jack Hughes, Junior Hughes, both of West Virginia; 51 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. DOYLE, Reba Butler, 90, of Salem, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 28, 1994. She was a long time member of Villa Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Doyle was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent T. Doyle, Sr., and a daughter, Shirley Doyle Duncan. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Charles and Flo Doyle, Roanoke, Vincent T., Jr., and Shirley Doyle, Salem; son-in-law, Bryant E. Duncan, Salem; grandson, Steven T. Doyle; granddaughters, Brenda Doyle Tilley, Cathy Doyle Kibler, Sharon Doyle Austin; stepgranddaughter, Kay Dean; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Butler, Charleston, W.Va., Clark Butler, Athens, W.Va.; one sister, Lucile Butler Hopkins, Athens, W.Va. DUFF, Mary Georgia, 79, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, December 24, 1994, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Buena Vista, June 23, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Truslow. She was a member of 29th St. Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Duff and two children, Christine Elizabeth Ramsey and Lewis Randolph Duff. She is survived by two daughters, Ila Jean Wade, Buena Vista and Ruth Geneva MacDonald Denver, Colo.; a son, James Halbert Duff, Waynesboro; a brother, Nookie Truslow, Buena Vista; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. FEARS, Pearl Branch, 92, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 1994, at the home of her daughter in Hampton after an extended illness. She was a retired school teacher for the Roanoke City School System, whose influence upon her students and the educational community of this city will be felt for many years to come. A native of Baltimore, Md., she was reared by an aunt and uncle, William and Carrie Brown, after the death of her parents. She attended elementary school in Roanoke and high school at Engleside Boarding School, Blackstone. She completed undergraduate studies at Virginia State College and received her Master of Arts degree from Hampton Institute. Her first position as a teacher was at Harrison School under the supervision of the late Miss Lucy Addison. She later transferred to Lucy Addison High School where she taught for 42 years. Her love and dedication to teaching continued after retirement and she did home-bound teaching for about five years. She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church for more than 75 years, where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, member of the Choir, organist and Elder in the Church. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Roanoke Links, Inc., YWCA Coffee Club and the National Education Association, she was appointed to the Governor's Board for the Aging by Governor Robb. Her civic responsibilities included volunteer service for Meals on Wheels, Voter's Poll Registration, NAACP, and a foster parent for about ten children. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Fears Branch; two grandsons, DeVan and Devin Branch; son-in-law, Daniel Branch Jr., all of Hampton; goddaughter, Elizabeth Hairston, East Hills, N.Y.; several cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church with the Rev. U. N. Broady officiating with burial in William Memorial Park. Flower bearers and casket bearers will be representatives of the Lucy Addison Class of '61. Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel.

FLINCHUM, Mabel Lowry Goodykoontz, 97, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, December 28, 1994. She retired from Sunnyside Awning Company and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. Mrs. Flinchum was preceded in death by two sons, Spottswood Goodykoontz and Emmett Goodykoontz, Jr., and her husbands, Emmett Goodykoontz and James Walker Flinchum. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Phyllis Goodykoontz, Roanoke, William and Vickie Goodykoontz, San Antiono, Texas; brother, William Lowry, Roanoke; sisters, Nettie Lucas and Lucy Maurer, both of Roanoke, Anna Roberts, Francis Clifton and Doris Brillhart, all of Salem; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. FOSTER, Millie J., 70, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, December 28, 1994. She was preceded in death by her son, Boyd Gene Ferguson; and grandson, Michael Clark. Surviving are her husband, Tom Foster; three daughters, Martha Clark, Mary Stanley, Jessie Ayers, all of Roanoke; a brother, Freddie Robertson, Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. HARMAN, Kiah Fuller, 69, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, D ecember 29, 1994. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church; a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple, Kazim Temple Fire Brigade, Kazim Shrine Club, and Welch, W.Va. Commandary #27 Knights Templar. Kiah was retired from his locally owned business, Harman's Automotive Machine Shop. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Yolanda Ricci Harman; his daughters, Ann Fuller Harman, Roanoke, Patricia Lee Harman, Kalamazoo, Mich.; his son and daughter-in-law, James (``Jimmy'') Kiah and Judy Harman, Roanoke; his grandchildren, John Martin and Mary Beth Harman; his sisters, Betty Kareades, Roanoke, Mary Lewyllin, Winston-Salem, N.C., Dr. Jean Watson, Boulder, Colo., Hope Foster, Waterford, Va.; his brother, Richard A. HOPKINS, Harriot Hamilton Rutherfoord, of Daleville, died Wednesday, December 28, 1994. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Aurelia Huger Rutherfoord of Roanoke. Born in Roanoke, she had been a resident of Botetourt County for 28 years. She attended St. Mary's College in Raleigh, N.C. She was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Fincastle. In addition, she was a member of the Junior League of the Roanoke Valley, the Colonial Dames of America, and the Garden Club of Virginia. Survivors include her husband, Byrd Willis Hopkins of Daleville; daughter, Harriot Duval Hopkins of Arlington; sister, Aurelia Rutherfoord Brown of Danville; stepchildren, Helen Hopkins Greffard, Lewis Willis Hopkins, William Rosborough Hopkins; nephews, David Tucker Brown, Edward Trigg Brown, Thom as Rutherfoord Brown; and niece, Aurelia Brown Lewis. Funeral services will be at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Fincastle, Saturday, December 31, 1994, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the East Hill Cemetery in Salem following the service. JENNINGS, Irene Truslow, 78, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, December 29, 1994 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in Buena Vista on June 22, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John Truslow and Julia Painter Truslow. She was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren and was retired from Burlington Industries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard L. Jennings. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy J. Taylor, Buena Vista and Mary Lee ``Skipper'' Oliver, Woodbridge; a grandson, Warren Lee Oliver, Woodbridge. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 30 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with James Burch officiating. KING, Robert Samuel, 79, of Floyd, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 1994, in the VA Medical Center in Salem. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Louise King of Floyd; one daughter, Patricia Terrell of Cascade; one son, Robert S. King Jr. of Salem; one sister, Mary Blevins of Salem; three brothers, James King of Salem, Morgan King of Salem, Willard King of Union City, Tenn.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem with the Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. KOCH, Pearl Faye, 45, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, December 27, 1994. Mrs. Koch was preceded in death by her father, Lemuel C. Branch. PRITCHETT, Germaine A., 96, of Roanoke, died Thursday morning, December 29, 1994, in a local hospital. She was the widow of John W. Pritchett, a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a former employee of the American Viscose. Mrs. Pritchett was very active in raising roses and was a former member of the Garden Club in Roanoke. Surviving are several nieces and nephews including her devoted niece and her husband, Marilyn Keyser and George Segnari, Roanoke; niece, Augusta K. Basino, Rockford, Ill.; niece, Jeanette Teel Thaxton, Roanoke; six nephews, J.D. Pritchett, Greensboro, N.C., William (Bill) Pritchett and John O. Pritchett, both of Roanoke, Herbert L. Keyser, East Riverdale, Md., James W. Keyser and John Keyser, both of Roanoke; devoted friends, Evelyn and Roscoe Hall, Salem, Michael and Catherine Smeltzer, Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Simmons; two sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. Simmons, Roanoke, Ralph V. and Paula T. Simmons, Buchanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Paul Stover, Buchanan; three brothers, Earl C. Simmons and Bobby L. Simmons, both of Roanoke, Mickey Simmons, Salem; three sisters, Dorothy Throckmartin, Salem, Elsie Staples and Lorene LaBrie, both of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. STIGGER, Thomas S. Rev., of Baltimore, Md. formerly of New River, Va. went home to rest on Tuesday, December 27, 1994. He has been a resident of Baltimore for 30 years and leave to mourn his wife, Marie Stigger; six children; one brother, Governor Stigger and four sisters, Helen Harvey and Bertha Parson all of New River, Va., Olivia Casey of Washington, D.C., Clara Hopkin of Christiansburg. SUMMEY, Robert James, (Smokey), of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Thursday, December 29, 1994, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Summey of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his mother, Lillian J. Summey of Pfafftown, N.C.; a brother, Joseph Summey of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Linda Summey of Christiansburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter L. Summey, and a brother, Stephen Summey. Smokey moved to this area recently from Wimberly, Texas. He attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Texas at Austin before settleing into construction work in the Wimberly area, where he lived for many years. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Monta Vista Memorial Gardens Chapel in Galax.

WELLS, Dorothy Mae O'Bryan, 82, of Wheatland Retirement Center, Hillsville, formerly of Woodlawn, died Wednesday, December 28, 1994, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born in Wythe County April 21, 1912, to Charles Franklin O'Bryan and Lou C. Parsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Wells. Mrs. Wells is survived by six nieces, Patricia O. Webb, Hillsville, Anita O. McHone, Summerville, S.C., Lois Altz, Alexandria, June Weston, Red Lion, Pa., Sarra Jones, Cedarburg, Wisc., Jacque Meyer, Brookville, Md.; a nephew, Charles A. (``Tony'') O'Bryan, Hillsville. Funeral service will be Friday at Woodlawn United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bill Edmonds officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour at the church. Flowers will be appreciated, however, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Woodlawn United Methodist Church or the Hillsville First United Methodist Church.
