Damage to the building in the 700 block of Radford Street was limited to the ceiling, where it started about 5 p.m., said Assistant Chief Jimmy Williams. He said the fire appeared to have been started by some faulty wiring.
He said the building is rented by three small auto-repair businesses. One man was inside when the fire started, but he escaped uninjured.
