She will attend a meet-the-artist reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 8 in the center gallery at 21 W. Main St.
Gennaro is in the United States on a cultural visa. She has been exhibiting her work in this country for the past year, mainly in the Southeast.
Retired after teaching art for 20 years, she now paints full-time and continues to show her work in galleries and art shows in the north of Italy.
Her large canvases, often 6-by-6-feet in size, reveal ``everything her eyes have observed and registered,'' according to art critic Salvatore Maugeri.
``Romana's eyes are constantly aroused to follow her precise perception of space and light. Space and light seem to live in a symbolic unity, produced by rhythm, constantly sinuous and in movement, which gives value to line and color,'' he said.
``My goal is to find new color combinations" `` Gennaro said, and to create elusive emotional puzzles.
The reception is open to the public.
