NFL PLAYOFFS AVAILABLE AT SEVERAL POINTS ON DIAL|

Radio listeners can catch the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE PLAYOFFS this holiday weekend on KOOL Country, WBNK (100.7 FM), WNRV (990 AM) and Super 710, WFNR (710 AM). Here's the rundown:

Today, WFNR airs the Detroit at Green Bay game starting at 12:15 p.m.

The Kansas City at Miami matchup gets under way today at 3:45 p.m. on WBNK and WNRV.

The New England at Cleveland contest is on the air Sunday, 12:15 p.m. on WFNR.

WBNK and WNRV air the Chicago at Minnesota game at 3:45 p.m.

The three stations plan to air all the playoff games plus the Super Bowl. Early games are on WFNR (710 AM), while WBNK and WNRV air the late games. For more information, call the stations at 382-6106.

"Armchair Quarterback:" Today, 9-10 a.m., on Super 710, WFNR (710 AM), John Hale is live from Florida to analyze the Gator Bowl. Levi Garrett moderates, as a panel of pundits tackles listeners' questions and comments on area and regional sports.

Virginia Tech Basketball: Today, the Hokies are at home against Delaware State. Air time is 12:30 p.m. Bill Roth calls the games. Local Virginia Tech Sports Network affiliates include WNRV (990 AM), WJJJ (1260 AM), WKEX (1430 AM), WRAD (1460 AM), WRIQ (101.7 FM) and WVVV (104.9 FM).

"Virginia Tech Today:" Weekdays, 7:10 a.m., on WJJJ (1260 AM) and WVVV (104.9 FM).

"Let's Talk NASCAR" Sundays, 11 a.m.-noon, on WFNR (710 AM).

Radford University Basketball: Wednesday, 7:40 p.m., the Highlanders are back home against University of North Carolina at Greensboro for a Big South Conference match-up. Saturday, 1:40 p.m., they're at Towson State. Fans can hear both games on WPSK (107.1 FM). Dave Hunziker does the play-by-play for the RU Sports Network.

"On the Bench with Coach Ron Bradley:" Radford University's basketball preview show airs on game days at 9:50 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. on WPSK (107.1 FM).

Blacksburg High School Basketball: Thursday, the Indians meet Salem, and Saturday they face off against William Byrd, both games at home. Broadcasts begin at 5:45 p.m. on WKEX (1430 AM). Bob Smith does the play-by-play with help from Kelly Haughton.

WBLB (1340 AM) in Pulaski offers a New Year's Eve Watch Night gospel sing tonight at 7 featuring The Singing Nippers, Joe Russell and J.B. Shelton and family.

Bob Kingsley counts down the top 100 tunes of 1994 on "American Country Countdown," Sunday, noon-7 p.m., on Eagle Country 107, WPSK (107.1 FM).

Eagle Country 107, WPSK (107.1 FM) lays claim to the New River Valley's biggest birthday greetings list, weekdays, 7:20 a.m., on the "Holstein & Company" morning show. Listeners should call in birthday wishes by 7:15 a.m. at 980-1071 or 633-1071.

"It's Your Deal" - a buy-sell-or-trade program with Heather Massie - now is heard Monday through Friday, 12:05-12:30 p.m., followed by gospel music until 1 p.m. on WKEX (1430 AM).

"Long Live Rock" - airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Radford University's WVRU (89.9 FM) - continues a four-part feature on the Allman Brothers Band. Jim Newberne, 831-5180.

Lisa Epperly of Christiansburg and Joanne Daulton of Pulaski were winners of the Eagle Country 107 "Gator Bowl Giveaway" sponsored by WPSK (107.1 FM). They and their guests got a trip to Jacksonville, three nights on the house and tickets to the game.

Agnes Hatley, for many years the accountant at Radford's WRAD (1460 AM) and WRIQ (101.7 FM), died Dec. 21. She was 68. Her husband, WRAD-WRIQ Station Manager Ray Hatley, survives.

Cablecasts:

"Spotlight on Blacksburg" airs Tuesday, 7 p.m., on WTOB (Channel 2), Blacksburg public-government access television. This month's show features interviews with Kevan Danker, paratransit coordinator. Also, segments on U.S. 460 and the smart highway, the American Red Cross "Swim-a-Cross" and New Year's resolutions. A live cablecast of the Blacksburg Planning Commission meeting follows at 7:30 p.m.

Starting Sunday, cable TV rates for customers in Radford, Fairlawn and Christiansburg rise slightly. American Cable Entertainment's monthly rate for broadcast basic service jumps 20 cents, while the satellite programming tier goes up by 35 cents.
