Giles' Raypheal Milton shares offensive honors with Powell Valley running back Thomas Jones. Narrows' Gary Lowery, a lineman, splits defensive honors with Appalachia linebacker Chris Mabe.
These two players were among 10 Timesland stars who were accorded first-team All-State honors in their classifications by the VHSCA. Milton, who was picked as a first-team quarterback on the All-Group A team, was Timesland's Offensive Player of the Year, but he was chosen at running back for that honor. Milton operated at tailback in Giles' single wing attack and that position can be considered either as a running back or quarterback.
Lowery was also an All-Timesland choice as he helped lead Narrows to the Group A Division 1 state semifinals.
The VHSCA picks their teams based on players making first team in their region and district. Any players not making those two lists aren't considered for all-state, which is picked differently from the Associated Press' Sportswriters' team that doesn't require players to have made all district or all region.
In Group AAA, Pulaski County's Eric Webb (linebacker) and Shayne Graham (placekicking) were accorded first-team honors. Webb was Timesland's Defensive Player of the Year. The other Timesland player taking down first-team status is Patrick Henry's Chris Combs at tight end. He was a defensive end on the All-Timesland team.
Only one Timesland player made first team in All-Group AA. Christiansburg's Andra Beasley was a running back on the all-state team. Defensively, Blacksburg's Steven Hunt (back), William Byrd's Michael Berry (punter) and Salem's Mike Murphy (kick return) made first team.
In Group A, Giles' linebacker Brandon Steele was a first-team defensive choice with Lowery.
