`I CAN COPE' CANCER SERIES

``I Can Cope,'' a free eight-part educational series about cancer, sponsored by The Cancer Center of Southwest Virginia, begins Jan. 9.

Classes will meet Mondays from Jan. 9 through Feb. 27 from 7 until 9 p.m. in the first floor waiting area at the Cancer Center of Southwest Virginia, Roanoke. Family and friends of cancer patients are welcome.

The series will be conducted by health professionals and will feature a variety of topics including treatment and causes, side effects, nutrition, maintaining wellness, and coping with body image changes and emotions.

The series was developed by the American Cancer Society as a way of helping people regain control of their lives through better knowledge of cancer and its physical, social, and emotional impacts.

For more information, call the I Can Cope facilitator at 981-7552, Carilion Physician Referral and Information, 981-7641, or (800) 422-8482.
