Following are some of the donations made to the store this season:
Virginia Tech contributed more than six tons of potatoes and more than 29,000 pounds of fruits, turkey ham, sugar and flour.
Wal-Mart in Christiansburg donated 5 cents each time a customer purchased a Sam's American Choice soda from a vending machine in the store.
The Blacksburg and New River Valley Apartment Council made a $225 donation to the Christmas Store. The council is an association of owners, managers, leasing agents and local businesses who manage or own rental units.
The Greater Blacksburg Chamber of Commerce collected 1,387 coats, more than four times the number of coats collected last year, through its "Give A Coat For Christmas Campaign." The coats were cleaned and repaired by Norman Fitzwater and crew of A Cleaner World in Blacksburg before being shipped to the Montgomery County Christmas Store.
