GAS LINE BROKEN IN CAR CRASH

Police blocked a section of Williamson Road on Tuesday night for almost an hour after a car struck and severed a gas line.

The car, which was traveling south on Williamson, was hit by a northbound car turning left onto Clarendon Avenue, Roanoke Officer J.F. Owens said. The southbound car then ran into the corner of the Forbes Plumbing and Heating building, breaking the gas line.

No one was seriously injured in the accident. Residents in the nearby Clarendon Court apartments stood outside for almost an hour while the gas was turned off and apartments checked for gas levels.
