NAMES ON CAMPUS

CHARLES A. WOOD has been named to the new post of vice president for university advancement. Wood will oversee the departments of alumni affairs, development, and public information and relations.

He has served for 20 years as executive assistant to the president.

The Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators recently presented BONNIE HURLBURT with its Outstanding Senior Professional Award.

Hurlburt, dean of students since 1964, was the first woman elected president of the organization.

The New River Valley Chapter of Radford University's national Alumni Association elected new officers: JACKIE STEPHENS, president; DARRYL GILLESPIE, president-elect; BEVERLY BEITZEL, secretary; PHYLLIS KING, treasurer.

DANIEL CROZIER, professor of music, won the National Opera Association's Chamber Opera Competition for his composition "With Blood, With Ink."

CLARENCE WHITE, administrative systems professor, received an outstanding leadership award at the 69th annual Southern Business Education Association Convention in Birmingham, Ala.

The Communication Apprehension and Avoidance Commission of the National Speech Communication Association named MICHAEL CRONIN and GEORGE GRICE, professors of speech communication, and RICHARD OLSEN, former instructor of speech communication and multimedia specialist, authors of the top article published on communication apprehension for 1993-94.

JOYCE GRAHAM, professor of English, has been appointed president-elect of the Virginia Association of Teachers of English.

Management professor HOOSHANG BEHESHTI is the newly elected president of the International Academy of Business Disciplines, a worldwide nonprofit organization. His term begins in April.

FORREST GREEN, professor of management, has been appointed to the six-member design team of the New River Valley Quality Council. The council promotes quality principals, practices and initiatives in organizations through sharing, consultation and networking.

Thirteen professors appear in the third edition of Who's Who Among American Teachers 1994: B. CHELSEA ADAMS, LOUIS GALLO, ANNABELLE YEARICK, ALEXANDER WEISS, PAULA BELLER, JANETTE NEWHOUSE, RUSSELL GREGORY, RUSSELL GREGORY, ADLYN HICKS, JANE SHANNON, REGINALD SHAREEF, RONALD SPILLMAN and SAMUEL ZEAKES.
