CAVE SPRING ROLLS OVER FRANKLIN COUNTY 64-45

Aimee Beightol scored 18 points and had six assists as Cave Spring cruised to a 64-45 victory over Franklin County in a Roanoke Valley District girls' basketball game Wednesday.

Cave Spring (7-2 overall, 3-0 RVD) led 23-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Cheryl Rhodes had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Knights. Jaclyn Banks had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Betty Smith led Franklin County (5-3, 1-3) with 15 points.

Pulaski County 71

Patrick Henry 36

PULASKI - Cara Buckner scored 15 points and Kim Cruise added 14 as the Cougars routed the winless Patriots in a Roanoke Valley District game.

Pulaski County (8-1) jumped out to a 21-4 first-quarter lead and held all Patrick Henry (0-8) scorers to single digits.

Boys

Giles 104

Craig County 71

PEARISBURG - Adam Jones scored 24 points as Giles blasted Craig County in a non-district game.

The Spartans (3-4) placed five players in double figures. Jon King added 18 points, and Josh Stephens scored 16. Brian Crawford had 12, and Anthony Myers chipped in 10 for the Spartans.

Craig County was led by junior guard Jamie Fisher, who scored a career-high 31 points, including six 3-pointers.

Christiansburg 58

Galax 46

INDEPENDENCE - Carlton Ashbrook scored 11 points to lead a balanced Christiansburg (7-2) attack as the Blue Demons slipped past Galax (5-2) in a non-district game.

Christiansburg led by seven at halftime, but Galax came back to tie it up behind Jeff Ross, who scored four of his 11 points in the third quarter.

The Blue Demons' Brian Porter hit three 3-pointers in the second half and finished with nine points to stave off the Maroon Tide (5-2).

Galax got a game-high 12 points from Tito Crockett and 10 from Ken Houtz.
