BUSINESSMAN NAMED BLAND SUPERVISOR

The president of a Rocky Gap corporation has been named as a new member of the Bland County Board of Supervisors.

Rick Owens, president of Southern Gunite Services Inc., will complete the year remaining on the term of former Rocky Gap District Supervisor Gary Nelson. Nelson resigned last week, citing workload increases in his job.

The board made the appointment at its organizational meeting Tuesday. It re-elected Billy Reed Ramsey as its chairman and chose Molly Thompson to the vice chairmanship previously held by Nelson.

The board will continue its regular meetings on the fourth Monday of each month, but has changed the starting times from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
