The Generals (4-5 overall, 2-3 ODAC) snapped a two-game losing streak and beat the Maroons for the first time since the 1990-91 season - a span of seven games.
Roanoke (8-2, 4-1) took an 11-2 lead, but an 11-4 run to end the first half enabled Washington and Lee to take a 43-34 advantage.
The Maroons closed to 66-60 with 4 minutes, 29 seconds left, but the Generals scored the game's final 11 points to account for the final margin.
Jonathan Coffman added 16 points for the Generals and Mark Connelly scored 14. Tyler Duvall had 10 points and nine assists.
The Maroons, who shot 37 percent for the game and made only five of 30 3-point attempts, were led by Bryant Lee, who scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. A.J. Hamlin added 13 and Jason Bishop scored 11 for Roanoke.

TEMPE, Ariz. - Mario Bennett had 16 points and career highs with seven assists and seven blocked shots to lead the Sun Devils past the Monarchs.
Bennett had 10 points and four assists in the first half when Arizona State had runs of 16-0, 12-0 and 8-0 to send Old Dominion (5-8) to its fifth consecutive loss.
Arizona State (11-2) has won six consecutive games, tied for the longest streak in coach Bill Frieder's six seasons. The Sun Devils have not been 11-2 since 1980-81, when they started 19-2.
Isaac Burton also scored 16 points for Arizona State. ODU's top scorer, Petey Sessoms, had 23 points, 20 in the second half.
The Monarchs scored the first basket of the game, but did not score again for 8:42 as Arizona State went on its 16-0 run.
Bennett had four points and three blocked shots in that streak, when ODU saw its shots blocked on four consecutive possessions. Ron Riley (nine points) had the other rejection.
The Monarchs made two of their first 19 field-goal attempts and had only one field goal in a span of 15:42. They had 12 turnovers against Arizona State's full-court press in the first half, which ended 36-12.

RICHMOND - Bernard Hopkins had 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Rams extended their winning streak to six games - their longest in 10 years - with the Metro Conference victory over the Bulls.
VCU (11-3, 2-0 ) is off to its best start since 1984-85, when the Rams were 13-1.
Tyron McCoy had 24 points for VCU, which overcame offensive droughts in both halves and halted the six-game winning streak of South Florida (8-3, 0-1).
Virginia Commonwealth, which never trailed, was up 14-8 with 14:56 left in the first half before going 7:35 without a field goal. But South Florida managed only a 7-2 run.
A basket by the Rams' Ben Peabody with 7:21 remaining snapped the drought and sparked a 15-0 run that gave VCU a 30-15 edge.
The Bulls, who trailed 35-22 at halftime, got no closer than nine the rest of the way, again failing to take advantage of a 41/2-minute span in which VCU failed to score a field goal.
South Florida's Chucky Atkins, who came in averaging 19.6 points, was held to two points. His lone basket came with 2:27 left.
Donzel Rush led the Bulls with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jesse Salters added 12 points and Eric Kinslow had 10.

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Louis Rowe scored 25 points and Darren McLinton hit three free throws in the final 50 seconds to complete the Dukes' comeback victory over the Seahawks.
JMU (5-5) halted a three-game losing streak in taking the Colonial opener for both teams. UNC Wilmington (6-5) has lost four in a row.
The Dukes were down 25-16 at halftime before surging back behind Rowe, who scored 16 of his points after the intermission. A short jumper by Rowe with 11:20 remaining tied the score at 30, and a 16-8 run in the next nine minutes put JMU in front 46-38.
The Seahawks bounced back and tied it at 48 on a 3-pointer by Chris Meighen with 51 seconds remaining, but McLinton then hit three of four from the free-throw line to seal the victory.
Corey Stewart led UNC Wilmington with 13 points and Meighen added 12.
Both teams were cold from the floor with a combined 35 percent shooting for the game.

BALTIMORE - Sophomore forward Marc Lay scored 12 points, including a key 3-pointer late in the game, to lead the Retrievers to a Big South Conference victory.
Lay's 3-point goal with 2:04 remaining gave UMBC a 56-50 lead. But the Retrievers missed three of six free throws in the waning minutes of the game and Barry Taylor's 3-point goal with 14 seconds left cut the margin to 59-57.
After UMBC's Tony Thompson hit a free throw with 10 seconds left, Taylor's 3-point effort to tie the score bounced off the rim.
Liberty's Kevin Benton led all scorers with 16 points and Peter Aluma added 15. Eric Wyatt was the only other UMBC scorer in double figures with 10.
William and Mary 72

WILLIAMSBURG - Kurt Small scored 23 points, and David Culley came off the bench to grab 11 rebounds and block seven shots as the Tribe won its first game of the season.
William and Mary (1-7) led the entire game, pushing the advantage to as many as 21 points in the second half. Siena (3-8) hit only 28 percent (19 of 66) from the field, including an 0-for-12 performance from 3-point range.
Carl Parker had 18 points for the Tribe, and Christopher Horne added 12 points. Culley scored two points on 1-for-3 shooting in 26 minutes.
Geoff Walker led Siena with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

RICHMOND - Darryl Franklin scored 24 points, including a 3-pointer that started a crucial second-half run, as the Eagles broke their 10-game losing streak by beating the Spiders.
The victory in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams snapped American's longest losing streak since the 1968-69 season.
The Eagles (1-11) took a 39-36 halftime lead after Nathan Smith hit a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining. It was American's eighth 3-pointer in a half that featured eight lead changes and eight ties.
Duane Gilliam opened the second half with seven points as the Eagles built their lead to 53-42 with 14:20 to play. The Spiders (4-7) came back to close to 66-65 with 2:11 remaining, but Franklin hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 7-0 spurt as American pulled away.
Gilliam and Smith had 15 points each for the Eagles, and Marko Krivokapic added 12.
Cass Weaver had 19 points to lead the Spiders, and senior Derrick Wall had a career-high 16 points and six blocks. Wall also had 10 rebounds. Oliver added 14 points, and Eric Poole had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

LYNCHBURG - Kurt Axe scored 15 points, including six of the Yellow Jackets' eight points in overtime, as they edged the Hornets in the ODAC.
Axe's three-point play with 2:24 left to give Randolph-Macon a 57-55 lead. A layup by Mike Preston tied the score at 57 with 1:56 left, but Brad Shanfelt sank two free throws with 1:10 remaining to forge a 59-57 Yellow Jackets lead.
Otis Tucker made one of his two free throws with 49 seconds left, and Lynchburg missed a chance to win the game when Preston's 3-point attempt hit the rim and caromed off at the buzzer.
Nathan Davis had 15 points, and Doug Turner added 10 points for Randolph-Macon (4-6, 2-2). Tucker led the Hornets (3-5, 0-4) with 19 points, and Turk Smith and Jason Ferguson each had 10. Tucker and Ferguson each had nine rebounds, and Tucker added five steals and a blocked shot.

HARRISONBURG - Darren Wheatley scored 22 points, and Jason Bissette added 19 as the Wasps overpowered the Royals in the ODAC.
Emory & Henry (3-6, 2-2) led 38-33 at the half and pulled steadily away in the second half. Eastern Mennonite (2-8, 0-5) failed to control the boards as the Wasps had a 42-30 rebounding advantage.
Dytanyon Norman added 11 points, and Al Murphy had 10 for Emory & Henry.
Lyndel Farmer led Eastern Mennonite with 13 points, and Jay Taylor had 12.

BRIDGEWATER - Dan Rush scored 24 points as the Eagles won an ODAC game. Bridgewater (9-2, 4-1) led 37-31 at the half and held the Quakers (4-6, 2-3) to 37 percent shooting (9-of-24) from the floor in the second half.
Mike Dayton added 14 points for the Eagles, and Craig Tutt had 11.
Randy Pack led Guilford with 17 points, while Tim Wooten and Shawn Peterson each had 11.
