PARRY MCCLUER GETS PAST JAMES RIVER

The Fighting Blues rolled to a 25-8 first-quarter lead and never looked back as they rolled to their first Pioneer District victory of the season.

Mike McElroy led Parry McCluer (7-2, 1-2) in the first quarter, scoring all of his 11 points in the opening period, including three 3-pointers.

James River, which trailed by 20 points at halftime, implemented a half-court trap in the third quarter. The defense enabled the Knights (1-6, 0-2) to make an 18-8 run, eventually cutting Parry McCluer's lead to 10.

Carl Sanderson refused to let the Fighting Blues lose, however, leading all scorers with 14 points. Brandon Garrett added 12 points for Parry McCluer.

James River was led by Jason Perry's 12 points. Curtis Nolan and Shahan Burell each tossed in 11 for the Knights.

Erick Ferguson led Dan River (2-8, 1-7) with 14 points - 10 in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats managed to cut a 20-point lead to 14, but could get no closer. Steven Guy chipped in 12 for the Wildcats.
