IF ANYONE WILL FEEL THE CHANGES IN INTEREST RATE CHANGES, IT'S BANKS

Bankers should enjoy a prosperous 1995, according to some industry analysts, but banks won't see the fantastic gains of the early 1990s.

David West, who follows the industry for Davenport & Co. in Richmond, said bank stocks are being "held hostage" near term to the Federal Reserve Bank's policy of incrementally raising interest rates in order to stem inflation.
