5 PICKED FOR COMMUNICATIONS HALL OF FAME

The Virginia Communications Hall of Fame has selected five new members, including the co-publisher of the Free Lance-Star, two political writers and the creative director of an advertising firm.

The five are Melville S. Carico, retired political writer for the Roanoke Times & World-News; the late John F. Daffron, former Associated Press editor and State Corporation Commission spokesman; Mike Hughes, creative director at the Martin Agency; Josiah P. Rowe III, co-publisher of the Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, and H. Donald Winkler, associate vice president and executive director of public affairs and publications at Longwood College.
