EX-BOARD CHAIRMAN IN WYTHE DIES

Robert C. ``Bobby'' Williams, 56, a former chairman of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, died Sunday morning at his home in Cripple Creek after a long illness.

He served eight years on the governing body, including two as chairman. He lost his bid for a third term to Jack Crosswell, the current Speedwell District supervisor. Crosswell described Williams as ``a good neighbor and a kind man.''

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today. Gillman Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
