Braze Gilmore, 39, of Roanoke was apprehended on Salem Turnpike about three hours after the bank, at Orange Avenue and King Road, reported being robbed, Roanoke police said.
=rt About 3:15 p.m., a man walked into the bank and handed a note to a teller that asked for money, said FBI agent David Burch.
The man never displayed any weapon. None of the customers in the small walk-in and drive-through bank realized what was happening, Burch said.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the man was seen walking toward a Kentucky Fried Chicken next door.
Burch said the FBI, working with Roanoke city and Roanoke County police, was investigating the possibility that this man may have also robbed two other banks: the Cave Spring Corners Crestar on Dec. 30 and the First Virginia Bank on Virginia 419 four days later.
In all three robberies, a man described as tall and wearing dark clothing entered the bank and handed a note to a teller, but never showed a weapon.
After the robberies, the man left on foot.
Police did not provide details about him or the exact charge against him.
