EAGLES HOLD ON, 78-71

Franklin County forged a 12-point halftime lead and held on to defeat Martinsville 78-71 on Wednesday night in a boys' non-district game.

Carlos Holland (21 points), Chad Foutz (19) and K.C. Hancock (17) provided a balanced attack for the Eagles.

Martinsville (7-3) whittled its deficit to four points with one minute left in the game, but got no closer. Mike Martin led the Bulldogs with 27 points.

Franklin County (7-3) made seven of 10 free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Blacksburg 60

Graham 49

BLUEFIELD - Philip Klaus scored 21 points and Anthony Wheeler added 19 as the Indians beat the G-Men in a non-district game.

Graham (4-4) led by two points after three quarters, but Blacksburg (3-7) outscored the G-Men by 13 in the fourth quarter. Klaus scored eight points in the fourth.

RUSTBURG - The Minutemen hit 11 3-pointers as Liberty routed the Devils in the Seminole District.

Stephen Shrader scored 13 points for Liberty (9-1, 9-1). Albert Randolph led Rustburg (2-8, 2-8) with 11 points.

Christiansburg 85

Narrows 48

CHRISTIANSBURG - Carlton Ashbrook scored 18 points and John Hairston added 13 as the Blue Demons swamped the Green Wave.

Donald Thompson chipped in 12 points for Christiansburg (10-2). Patrick Bailey scored 14 to lead Narrows (5-3).
