JEAN SIMMONS, an associate broker at ERA Townside Inc. in Blacksburg, is president of the New River Valley Associations of Realtors for 1995.

Simmons, who joined the association in 1986, has served as director and treasurer as well as on membership and awards committees.

The American Economic Development Council appointed FRANKLYN MORENO, executive director of the New River Valley Economic Development Alliance, to the editorial board of its publication, Economic Development Review. The journal is a quarterly publication for the economic development practitioner.

Blue Ridge Cellular's top account executive for November 1994 is CANDICE HAWKINS.

FREDERICK KELLERMAN is a new partner in the Blacksburg law firm of Long & Long. He is a former staff attorney for Southern Title Insurance Corporation in Charlottesville. LERA VANMETER joined the firm as a lawyer. She is a 1994 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law.

Anderson & Associates Inc., Blacksburg-based engineers, planners and surveyors, recently welcomed two newcomers to the staff. HOWARD BOGGESS is a landscape architect, and SEAN NEFF is a computer and network support technician.

LORE BALKAN, project-team facilitator for administrative systems at Virginia Tech, is the 1995 executive vice president of DPMA, the association of information systems professionals.

Two Virginia Tech students recently joined the staff of Comprehensive Computer Solutions in Christiansburg. ERIC SIMMERMAN is a computer service technician, and TONY AIRAGHI is a production technician.

DAVID STOECKLE, a general surgeon at Montgomery Regional Hospital, is a newly elected member of the American College of Gastroenteroloy and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He will teach advanced laparoscopic procedures to surgeons at George Washington University laboratory in Washington, D.C.

HILDA BURNETTE, manager of the Montgomery Regional Hospital extended care unit and assistant director of nursing, joined the Regulatory Review Committee of the Virginia Health Care Association.

CHRISTOPHER DUX, chief executive officer of Pulaski Community Hospital, is a member of the HealthTrust Executive Fellowship Program. The program is a yearlong executive leadership development course.
