GARST POWERS SALEM

Kevin Garst scored 36 points and sank 15 of 16 free throw-attempts as Salem rolled past Magna Vista 79-65 on Wednesday night in a non-district boys' high school basketball game.

The Spartans took a 42-25 halftime lead. The Warriors rallied in the fourth as Jermaine Simmons scored 13 of his 17 points in the period.

Matt Woolwine added 13 points for Salem (4-4).

Leroy Valentine scored 21 for Magna Vista (3-6).
